This is born from a discussion I recently had with Disney tech support. In the course of unsuccessfully trying to fix something, we had a friendly disagreement about the name of the app.

Before answering, please consider the screenshots but answer however you like regardless. Feel free to look around the app as well. Add any comments below that you want. But in particular, if you say the app is called "My Disney Experience," I would be very interested to know why. Nothing important hinges on this and I certainly won't argue, but I am curious.

I’ve never really thought about it, but I don’t think I call it anything in particular.
I’m pretty sure I call it all the choices you listed interchangeably.

Short answer - all of the above. Lol.

When we were on our November trip I would just say to my family I have to go on the app whether it was to make our Genie + selections, mobile ordering, check wait times, etc.

It’s been years since this all started, but IIRC it was called My Disney Experience when Disney first presented its new program to create these accounts to be used for planning our visits. And when I log into my account via the website, my personal data is all found under the My Disney Experience drop down at the upper right. So by extension the app is the MDE app.

I don't call it any of the things suggestion cause it feels unnatural to put the word app on the end of the name. Generally I call it MDE or My Disney Experience

As a cranky old person who hates apps and has to be dragged kicking and screaming to use them, i voted Disney World app. I prefer to use the website when I can, and do think of that as MDE, but the app is just the app to me!

Recently bought tickets, have to download the SeatGeek app, had to get the Ticketmaster app for something, had to get the GWR (great western railway) app for my tickets in the UK. Got medical travel insurance, had to get the GeoBlue app. It's neverending. i have Apple Wallet but a lot of these tickets can't be added there. Rant over.

I changed my vote
It is not MDE but will forever more be WDW 50th Anniversary APP .

"MDE" (My Disney Experience)

Because that's what Google Play calls it. And what Disney calls it.

Thanks all. Basically what prompted this was, as I referenced, a discussion with Disney IT, that went something like this.
  • Please try deleting and reinstalling the My DIsney Experience app.
  • You mean the Disney World app?
  • Yes, but it's name is My DIsney Experience.
  • That's not what it says on the icon you click to open it.
  • But that's its name.
  • It's not what it says on the splash page or "about this app" page in the app.
  • That is true, but the official name is "My Disney Experience."
  • Well ok there might be an official scroll in a secret chamber in Cinderella's Castle that says the name is "My Disney Experience." I'm not in a position to know. But if those words are not under the icon you click to open it, or anywhere prominent in the app, then it's kind of confusing to call it that.
Look, I had to do something to fill the time while I went through the measures (that didn't work) to try to fix my issue. But I also was somewhat serious. At one time I called it MDE. Then they changed all the nomenclature within the app itself. I followed their lead. Calling it by an old name that appears nowhere in the app is confusing. Now to be fair I should mention that in the iPhone app store and on the Disney website it is called, yes, "My Disney Experience." I would guess it also is called that in the Android app store.

That itself is confusing. Imagine if there was a program called Adobe Photoshop in all of the promotional materials and when you buy it, but after you install the program on your equipment it consistently referred to itself as Adobe DigiEditor or whatever. I mean, why?

Anyways, I don't really care. It just led me to wonder if other people like me had noticed the unofficial name change within the app and started calling it the Disney World app, or if most still call it MDE. Call it what you want, just don't call me late for dinner.
