I'm curious: Character in multiple locations?

Just got back and I've been wondering about something. A few years ago, I had heard that Disney wouldn't let the same character be two places in the same park at once. For example, if Tinkerbell is in a show, she won't also be signing autographs somewhere else in the same park. The idea was that kids seeing the same character in two places would ruin the magic. Was that ever true, and if so, how does it work with Meeting Talking Mickey in Town Square? Is that just an exception? I only ask because my aunt took a picture of him in the move it shake it parade while the rest of my family was meeting with him and it got me wondering.

Characters can be in more than one location within the park - a Guest can’t see more than 1 at the same exact moment.

In addition to Town Square Theater and MISI, Mickey is in the Welcome Show, MRFF and FoF.

Sorcerer Mickey meets at DHS while Sorcerer Mickey is on top of the Fantasmic mountain.

This type of scheduling also occurs in all the other parks.

I see, Thanks!

Yes, that's why a lot of Meet & Greets are behind closed doors. There are often a few of the same character in different rooms, but when they bring a group in they go to the appropriate room and close the doors. You will not however see an out-in-the-open meet and greet at the same time a character is on stage or in a parade (unless the stage is inside a theater and only those in the show can see them).

Or course, the real answer as to how a character can be in two places at once is magic.

Really?! That's neat to know. Are there several talking Mickeys?

I don't know about that one, but they definitely do it for the more popular meet & greets, like Anna & Elsa. This was the whole concept of Princess Fairy Tale Hall when it was created, so they could do multiple meets in different rooms.

At DHS earlier in the month, we walked into the Chase Visa mystery character meet and greet at Star Wars Launch Bay to find Kylo Ren. That was cool of course, but we walked out to see the line for the regular, non-mystery Kylo Ren.

Now I understand what they are doing with A & E in Epcot, and with Fairy Tale Hall, but that is designed to be hidden from the guests. What we saw in DHS was pretty transparent.

The Chase Visa meet at DHS isn’t a mystery meet. Only Kylo meets there.

Guests see a really long line to meet Kylo and then another entrance to a hallway to meet Kylo with a really short wait. Kylo isn’t out in full view of Launch Bay Guests.

It was presented as a mystery to us. The character that we ended up meeting was not revealed until we were in the room.

To be fair, most guests won't realize what is going on; only those going to the Chase M & G. We had done the regular Klyo M & G on an earlier day, and we knew exactly what was was going on at the end of that line. So when we exited the Chase/Klyo/"Mystery" M & G, we entered a big room with all of the M & G lines, where we could see other families being escorted to a completely different area to meet Kylo (the regular line with a posted wait time), whom we knew to be in a room immediately behind us (the Chase M & G).

Yes. There are multiple rooms there.

Ha! Neat! And here I thought our talking Mickey was so well trained and I wondered how he could afford to spend so long on each guest including us. Now I'm more amazed there are so many well trained Mickey's at once.

If you do a meet or greet for Mickey and Minnie at Animal Kingdom look just before the CM puts you in a line to meet - look for other doors. There is more than one meet and greet room.

I like it as it gets you through the line quicker.

In October it said 40 minute wait - but when I saw there was more than one door I realized that the wait had only been 20 minutes.

It's never been true.

ETA - Think about it, how would CRT and Princess Fairy Tale Hall have ever operated if this was true? Cinderella (just to name one) is featured in both

That's exactly what we did. We knew it was a Chase M&G with Kylo Ren, we just didn't know where it was.

But, the character won't be in two visible places at the same time, which is why they keep a lot of the Meet & Greets behind closed doors. It's like if you aren't in there you don't know they are in there and if you are in there, then they could be outside, but you don't know. They will make a character that is at an outside M&G disappear if they are also in the parade or something.

I do know if the Country Bears are out and about, they make them go in before the next showing of the CBJ. They even tell everyone it's time for the show.

I understand that. But that's not what OP said in their initial post. They thought they couldn't be in 2 places in the same park at once. Not just in the same line of sight. There's never been a rule where they couldn't be in the same park at the same time.
