The young student teacher who is working in our class bought some cake after work and offered me a piece. I said, "No, thankyou I've just rejoined Weight Watchers." She said "Oh, do have some" and again I said "No, I'm going to Weight Watchers".

Then I got the "It's only a little piece!" At which point I got quite cross with her.

If I was an alcoholic she wouldn't offer me a drink but because my problem is food she thinks she can keep badgering me with goodies!!!!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

(And no I didn't have any cake, but it was sooo hard to say no.)

:guilty: oooh i would have been cross as well ! im known at our groups now for refusing cakes...they are all amazed by my willpower

Well done for sticking to your diet :thumbsup2

I bet shes never had to think about what she eats.
Good luck with the dieting and good for you for being strong.

Unfortunatly it is easier to lie to folks why you cant eat it, as they can be on a mission when the D word is said.
IT is annoying.

You have my total sympathy!   Robert and me face similar problems all the time because we don't drink alcohol.... As soon as many people find out we don't drink, they make it a rule to ridicule us, try and sneak alcohol in our drinks (Which I find alarming bearing in mind I drive!), etc etc. Some people are wonderful with it, but others border on offensive and dangerous just because of a simple lifestyle choice!

well done for not giving in. :)

its terrible when they try to ruin your good intentions.

Bob, cant believe they do that just because you dont drink. thats terrible.

people just dont like it when others have different lifestyle choices.
i remember reading a thread on here about people who didnt want children. they went on about the amount of negative comments they got just becauce they didnt want children.
isnt that the whole point of being an individual! or should we all be sheep really.

I think it's really shocking the lengths some people are willing to go to to try and make us drink....

The not wanting kids thing applies to us too.... People treat us really oddly when they find that out! :confused3

I find the alcohol one really strange. I didn't drink for about 10 years (hard to believe now I know) and for two of those years I worked in a pub. No one every tried to get me to drink but they always wanted a lift home!!!

I don't think anyone means it personally when they try to get you to eat, as opposed to the alcohol thing we all have to eat and some people are lucky and don't know how it feels to have to stop themsevles from eating too much.

I have spent my whole life dieting and through that time I worked with people who are constantly grazing all day and never seem to put on weight. Every day at work people bring in cakes for some occasion or another and it is one of the hardest things to do to stop yourself. I am sure no one meant to hurt you.

Good luck in your diet.

I went to Weight Watchers too. There were two types of people who would drive me crazy. Those who said, 'Go on, you know you want some' whenever any goodies were around. Also the other type who would say, 'I thought you were on a diet!' whenever they saw you eating anything. *sigh*

A friend I work with is on a diet and I have made a point of telling him how much I admire his willpower and how great he is looking.

Well done for sticking to your diet Libby:thumbsup2

I am sure she is someone who has never had to diet so really doesn't understand. Well done you for sticking to you diet! I admire your willpower!:goodvibes

I used to be like you Bob, before I went to Uni I didn't drink point blank, but the amount of hassle I used to get from people (who I wouldn't tell unless they asked) was beyond the pale!

When I went to Uni I caved, I couldn't stand the looks anymore, so I drink (maybe one or two on a night out) and I still get abuse from some people for not getting wasted. Its really saddening!

I feel your pain Bob!

Totally sympathise - these people are known as "unintentional sabateurs" - they don't realise the damage that can easily be done.

I work in a school too and we are constantly surrounded by chocolates, cakes and biscuits, not only from us staff, but as 'thank you' pressies from parents.

My teacher friend and I go to WW and we keep a box of WW biscuits in the staffroom for occasions when everyone else is eating naughty but nice stuff - that way we don't feel like we've missed out:)
