I'm confused about FOF FP+

We have a Festival of the Fantasy FP+ for early May. I know some say unnecessary but we have two young kids (including a baby) so we decided it is worthwhile. Anyway I was reading some say that you get there 30 minutes early but the FP+ says arrive between 2:45-3:05 and the parade starts at 3:00 (I know it takes 25 minutes for the parade to get to the FP+ area). So... my question is are you actually supposed to get there before 2:45?

We got to the area at 3:00 and were fine. No need to get there before 2:45. That would be defeating the purpose of the FP+.

The parade, itself, won't even get to the FP+ area until after 3:25pm.
The FP area is in direct sunlight in the hottest part of the day, so make sure your baby and young child are protected.
