I'm confused... 180+10 rule

I know this has probably been asked many times before, so I apologize in advance. We are staying at the Contemporary Dec 16-21. I need to make 3 ADRs, one on 12/18, one on 12/19, and one on 12/20. Am I allowed to call 180 days prior to 12/18 or 180 days prior to our arrival date, 12/16? What would be the day I can call to make reservations for all 3 days. I have plugged in the dates to an ADR calculator, but the calculator did not take into account this 180 +10 rules I am hearing about for resort guests. Can anyone help me figure this out? You can call 180 days from your check in date and make ADRs for up to 10 consecutive days.

Ah, so it is actually the check in date, not the date of your first dinner reservation.

No - that is not correct. I just had this situation, and I got the information direct from Disney Dining. Once you're able to make your first dining reservation 180 days from that meal, then you can book anything else (within 10 days) if you're staying onsite.

In my case I was arriving on a Wednesday and wanting to book ADRs for Friday & Saturday. At the time I called, 180 days was only through that Thursday. I was told since I was arriving Wed if I booked something for either Wed or Thurs I could book the rest - but since I didn't want anything on either of those days I had to call back today to book my Friday adr....and then was able to book Saturday at the same time.

Direct from Disney Dining only means direct from the person you happened to speak to. This sounds like a pretty strict interpretation of the rule.

This year when I made our reservations I made our reservation for LeCellier first figuring it would be the most difficult and it was 186 days out at that point. Not sure if they would have cancelled it if I then said I wasn't ready to make any other reservations yet.

Being that strict might encourage people to book reservations they don't want which is not something that Disney would want.

I called this morning at my 180-day time period, and the first ressie I asked for was the 2nd to last day of our vacation... they made that for me, then I backtracked to our 2nd day, etc... so don't see why you couldn't make your ressie for later in the week.

and a CM would not let me start my ADRs until 180+10 from my first ADR, I would make one the night of check-in and cancel it later.

Some may see this as gaming the system. I see it as getting around CMs that probably suffer from a too high turn over rate and are not as familiar with the rules as they need to be. The 180+10 is tied to a Disney reservation. It conveys a benefit to people staying on site. If you already have a Disney reservation you are entitled to that benefit.

You can make reservations 180 days out from your CHECK IN DATE IF you are staying on site. You make make ADRS for up to 10 days following that check in date..........

It doesn't matter if you only want to make an ADR for your very last day.......you still can call at 180 days from check in to the resort.

Now, IF you are staying off site, then you must call at 180 days from the day you want the ADR.

BE sure to have your resort confirmation number ready for when you call to make the ADRs. Without it, they may think you are not staying on site, thus telling you to call back at 180 days.

Now, a few resturaunts only take ADRs for exactly 180........such as Rainforest cafe in AK and Yak & Yetti also in AK.....

Thanks for your replies. I called Disney today to check since I have read discrepancies in the past, as with the replies today. I was told by the CM that I spoke to today that I could definitely make ADRs for my entire 5 day trip 180 days prior to my CHECK IN date, not first dining reservation day. If a CM tells you must wait until 180 days prior to your first reserved meal, just call back.

Just to add, we are staying on site.

Sorry, the person you spoke to was wrong which often happens with dining CM's.

I just got off the phone with Disney. We will be staying on property starting Dec 6th, and I can call and make reservations as of June 9th. I can make reservations for 10 days from that date.
