3 yrs ago we fell in love with WCC....It was loud, it was crazy and they did tons of stunts. Over the past few years more and more stuff has been taken away. We continued to go because our beloved waiter Bobby the Kid was there to entertain us each and every visit.

They took away the stunts....lexans full of sodas or tea. Then they took way how much the could yell or come into contact with the table customers. Our last vist in March they no longer had the cowboy themed napkins as they were disappearing. Delswife just reported that last week they made more changes....No more Napkin hats at all, no more twirling the napkins, yelling is at at minmum. In the 2 hrs Delswife was there didn't do any pony races...

The worst change is that it has become such a stifling atmosphere that our dear bobby has decided to leave.....

If you have going for the fun and have never been before you probably won't know what you are missing...but if you have gone before things have changed and the MAGIC IS MISSING!!!!

Good Bye my Dear friend Bobby

We have found that dinner is much much better than lunch there. Last time we went for lunch, and the attempts at humor were wildly unsuccessful. We dined with a squeaky mouse who our server believed was a real live being and listened to the choruses of In the Jungle and Chicago. Ouch.

The newer servers just don't have the personaity of the old servers because they are not allowed to act as crazy as they did before...it is so sad to see it change....

There will be lots of disappointed guests if they are not allowing the waitstaff to continue with the antics anymore... =(

I made ADRs for WCC for August. It was going to be my first time and I was really looking forward to the pranks. DD is a ketchup hound and I was looking forward to the multiple bottles.. should I cancel and go elsewhere?

I hope they don't stick with the changes we had a great time in April and wanted to take our friends in Dec..

Maybe we should email Disney with our request .

I was at WCC a few days ago for lunch and there were lots of antics, such as napkin twirling, pony races, some sort of animal game, and LOTS of yelling. They had the whole restaurant sing a song, we all had to "yee haw!" about various things, etc. I thought it was great and lots of fun. It probably varies greatly on a day to day basis. :)

I just got off the phone with the evening manager, they have indeed made more changes. My own opinion these changes have a negative impact on WCC. I noticed more and more subtle changes each visit. I'm just sad that the higher ups are making changes. The antics and stuff at WCC was what made WCC the fun place it was.

Like I said unless you've been going regularly for the past 3 years like I have the chances of not enjoying your visit is low. Unless more and more of the old waitstaff continues to leave. I just know that extra antics that are gone take the Magic away for me....When the waitstaff doesn't enjoy their job anymore because of management changes, management has a problem....pretty soon the exceptional waitstaff will be gone. practically anybody can wait a table but you have to have an extra showmanship gene to make the show at WCC really work.

Well, regardless of whether there are changes or not, I'll still enjoy WCC in December. Unfortunately, many things change at Disney restaurants at some point (e.g., Ohana menu, dessert, etc.), and apparently WCC is no exception.

Well, I'm probably in the minority here but I'm visiting WCC for the first time in December and I'm relieved that they've chilled-out a bit. Honestly, after being in the parks all day, I really want (NEED) to unwind. I can't exactly do that at WCC. "Go somewhere else", you say? Well, WCC is at my resort and it's the less formal/more economical of the 2 restaurants there. I agree though that it probably just depends on the day and the staff on duty as to how much antics are delivered.

We had lunch there in Dec 05 and enjoyed our meal. I had all of the reviews and thought it would be fun for our family. While the food was very tasty, the atmosphere didn't live up to its reputation. I think the fact that the restaurant was empty and our server was one of the quiet ones contributed to that. Most of my party didn't mind although I did want my dad to sing the buttercup song. I did notice that the other servers were very rowdy and there were a few pony races and happy birthday songs. It truly depends on the day.

NO NO NO NO NO!!

Say it isnt so!!

First Ohana, and now WCC - blast them!! DRAT THEM!!! :furious:

Take away the fun and then it's just another Disney resturant with ok food. I'm going to cancel our adr for October, it won't be worth taking the time to go over there.

I've always enoyed the fun and antics of WCC - awwww I will miss the craziness!!!! :guilty:

I had Bobby the Kid as a waiter once, he was a great cast member, I loved Whispering Canyon Cafe the first time I went to eat there :). Last year when I went they still had pony races and yelling and all that.

We were there last week, and I agree the entire atmosphere has "quieted down." I thought that it was just me, but I noticed that there were only a few servers that were into the old routine.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and dined at WCC twice. Yes, Bobby was gone and we were actually just wondering of he was on vacation. He was great.

Although it was somewhat toned down a bit, they still had pony races and we still waved our napkins over our heads. And several times they brought bottles and bottles of ketchup to those who requested ketchup. And they did bring out a HUGE mason jar of soda to someone who ordered soda. And there was a lot of bantering. I agree, it was somewhat toned down (I thought it was just me) but it still was fun.

Good I was thinking of cancelling it. I m mainly in it for the bottomless shakes :thumbsup2 Oldest DD is a rib addict :goodvibes

I am sorry to hear that. I took out of town guests to WCC to enjoy some Disney fun.
