Hello All,

I have not been around these parts for quite a while - joined before our first trip in 2007 and was prob last active around our second trip in 2011. I don't know if anyone would remember my posts but I think I have seen a few familiar user names when browsing today.

I never did finish our 2011 trip report (tbh I barely started it) as at the time my dad had been diagnosed with liver cancer and subsequently died in November 2011. Less than a year later my sister and I were both diagnosed with breast cancer within two months of each other in June / Aug 2012. Life has been full of surgery and chemotherapy ever since. I am only 33 so it is all been a bit unexpected and I have since been confirmed as a BRCA2 gene mutation carrier too. A lot has happened in the last 3 years and our plans are now completely up in the air in terms of having a family etc.. it's been a lot to come to terms with.

HOWEVER... I am now finally seeing a bit more of a future for my lovely partner and I again and to celebrate we've decided another Florida extravaganza is required. We're planning to go back in Sept 2014 - I should be completely done with surgery by then and have a full compliment of hair etc which has done a bunk due to chemo.

So the real point of this post is just to say hi and let the 2014 Florida planning commence!!

Fi xx

Thankyou very much - tbh I know it makes no odds to any of the other board members why I've been away and I'm certainly not looking for sympathy. Just thought it would be easier to say whats been going on as I'm sure I'll end up referencing it. As you say - I think OH and I do deserve an awesome holiday and we could well be adding a few 'extra special' elements ... although to be fair our 2011 trip was quite extravagant and we had no excuse for it then!!

I hope you have a fab time in October - not long to wait now!!

113 days and counting....

If you're looking to treat yourselves to something special, have a look on the Disney Florist website. I have booked a package for each of my boys when we arrive and cannot wait to see their faces!

There is no such thing as 'going over the top' when it comes to Disney! You have to make the most of every magical moment!

I look forward to seeing all your planning updates over the coming months. Are you going to stay on resort? x

Thanks for the tip - will have a look at that... and too right we all need to make the most of any Florida holiday :woohoo:

We won't stay at Disney as tbh, we are more for the other parks than Disney. I think we've agreed that we will do MK and HS only this time. Maybe Epcot but we'll see. We do intend to stay onsite and Universal resort though which we're VERY excited about. First instinct is the Royal Pacific but I need to look into all the hotels properly yet. We think we might split it between onsite Universal and a hotel near Seaworld. We stayed at the Studio City on I-Drive both other times we've been so this is new territory for us!

How about you, what are your plans?

I don't really know much about the hotels at Universal but that sounds great!

When I have been before, we have always stayed in a villa in Kissimmee but we will be staying on the WDW resort this time as it will be my DS7 and DS4 first trip and we want to make it extra magical! We are staying at the Caribbean Beach resort.

The best thing is my Mum and her partner are flying out to get married whilst we are there - so both my sisters and their families are going to be flying out too :cool1:

We are all staying at different resorts. We will be meeting up for the wedding and a couple of other park days - but then we will be doing our own things with our own little families for the rest of the time - so we get the best of both worlds! We are all so excited! :cheer2::cheer2:

We are bridesmaid dress shopping this weekend! :yay:

I love Epcot because you can make the day as busy or as relaxing as you like. We are also doing Seaworld - can't miss going to see Shamu! :)

I am sure lots of people on here will have some great advise about the Universal resorts :goodvibes xx

That sounds awesome - as you say, best of both worlds with the family. As much as I love them dearly, I'm not sure I could sustain a Florida holiday with my family if we were all on top of each other the whole time! Sounds like you will have the perfect mix - and a wedding to add to the magic :bride::love:

We do love Epcot - but we spent a lot of time there last trip and there is so much new stuff elsewhere that it might get relegated this time around. Seaworld is a must - 1.5 days minimum!

I now wish I had booked three weeks there! There's so much to do and I know I am not going to want to come home! :hyper:

Hi Fi, yes I remember you and your trippy.

Welcome back to the DIS. Sounds as though you deserve a lovely holiday after what you've been through. Hope you can make it a good one, goo dluck with the planning :thumbsup2

Thankyou very much - you are one of the familiar user names I was thinking of :thumbsup2

You have a good memory remembering my trippie - it must be the 2007 one as the other didn't really get off the ground!

Welcome back :) sorry about your tough few years. Happy planning for your next trip nothing better than planning a nice trip away :).
