I'm ashamed...

I have just witnessed the most awful manners toward a lady I have ever seen...ever. And it was virtual at that!

Here's the deal. I've been brought up knowing that a girl, any girl no matter how old should be treated with the utmost respect. I mean any sane person wouldn't speak about a lady in coarse words? Apparently, I've been proven very wrong.

Tonight, right before closing I was spending the night in PeachyT's marvelous Adventurers' Club room and was hanging out with some friends as Peachy crashed. A sweet (younger) girl volunteered to be the "drink girl" and stood behind the bar while we all ordered Dr. Peppers and the like. Everything was wonderful...until a certain guest came by and started talking as dirty as he could to the girl. And blamed it on the "bear" he was drinking at the bar. Seeing as I was appalled at his behavior (and everyone else in the room) we all started to reprimand him. I mean, he was saying some really gross, lewd things to this girl! And he responds by being mean to us. And saying "I'm in hi school and I do it to my friends and they know it's a joke. Can't you take a joke?"

Apparently, I can't take a joke. This outrages me. And to hide behind the fact that he's just in High School. You should know much more about how society functions by that age. People treat people with repect...and respectful people always are welcomed!

Finally PeachyT comes in and asks us what's up and we tell her the deal with this disruptive player. She's asks us Dis people in the room if we should boot and the bad player says "Can't you all give me another chance?" I mean really...we've been trying to get him to be nicer to people, and he's just been mean back. The dude didn't deserve a second chance...which he didn't get. Thank you PeachyT.

So case in point. I'm ashamed at my generation...if any of you see something bad happening with another teenager-ish person in VMK or in real don't blame it on their age. It's their own brains that don't work. We're not all horrible people like that, some of our frontal lobes are still working OK!

I was there-it was terrible.

People with bad attitudes are ruining this game for me and a host of others.

Since I, apparently very luckily, missed the whole incident, I was going to rely on what the Dis people in the room would tell me to do. :grouphug:

Honestly, I didn't even have the chance to boot him from the room. I don't know if he left, lost connection, or VMK made him leave.

But I did want to say that I trust all of you and was about to boot because you were telling me to. So, the next question is, whenever PeachyT's Adventurer's Club is open for business, who would like to be my bouncer? :Pinkbounc LOL!

Fly, I don't think anyone in VMK could compare you to some of the foul people that have been encountered there so far! You are kind and generous, and have a very level head underneath that mickey hat!

Don't take it to heart that that person was in High School, I have personally met some awful people on VMK, from younger children to grown adults. There are people on here that make my skin crawl, and sometimes I am ashamed to be an 'adult', seeing the measures that Disney have had to put in place to protect the younger children.

In society (and so also in VMK), there are nice people and not so nice people. It doesn't depend on their age, race, color or religion, if they have hate in their hearts, then they will pass it on. Judge people on their actions, not their demographics. :grouphug:

The whole point of VMK is to meet people who are just as crazy about Disney as you are, enjoy playing games, and having fun (if it deliberately upsets someone, then it is NOT fun). If you are reading this, and it does not describe you, then I would ask that you leave VMK, and find somewhere else to be mean.

To the rest of us, long may the happiness continue! :wave2:

bah....Fly...don't fret. I work with kids everyday..365 days of the year...24 hours....yadda. yadda yadda....

I don't think any one here is going to compare you with what we have witnessed by some of the kids on the game..You should definetly be applauded for trying to defuse the situation...There are still a few good kids out there that at least try to have some respect...

Agree with surferrat -- nobody here is going to expect you to take responsibility for another twit's actions.

While surferrat might be the old person disguised as the 14yo, you are the youth who would otherwise be taken as the old, lame, mature person ;)

And you know I mean that in the nicest possible way, for both of you!

Totally agree Fly I have always found you to be wise beyond your years.

Keep up the good work.

People like that shouldn't be allowed to be in the game. Good for you for standing up for your beliefs!

Oh, and Peachy, next time, I'll bring BounceBoy along! ;)

You have an Adventurers Club room! Can we say, "Look at my signature,
and then tell me if I can be the bouncer!" LOL!

Woohoo! That's two bouncers! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That should help keep out the riff-raff! :rotfl:
(And my apologies if any VMK character is named "riff-raff"...this isn't aimed at you! lol!)

Fly, I forgot to say this last night, but don't worry about it! There are rotten people no matter what age they are!

Welcome to the unfortunate real world. Did anybody report?

Yes, several did-I'm thinking 3-4 people? I am not quite sure. They all got the "thanks, we'll look into it" note from VMK.

It was horrible. I was thinking that very thing as we sat there arguing with the fool...that people have been so mean lately, and it is really making me want to quit.

Don't be discouraged, there are still a lot of great people in VMK. It's just I think the jerks are a lot more noticeable.

I had a recent kidiot encounter, thought I'd share how I handled it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was hanging out on the bench on Main Street,
talking with newbies. A "boy" came over to me to tell me, "Your ugly".
(Gee, at least use the proper punctuation! LOL)

My response: "I don't care."
His reply: "Your ugly"
My next reply: "I still don't care. I like being ugly."

Seeing as how I didn't get all bent out of shape, I really put a damper on his
fun. He just went away. :teeth:

No need to be ashamed my friend, it happens in all generations. I am proud to know you as friend online who has the courage to stand and defend others who are harrased. Good for you!

That's the only real advantage I've found about being a CL: when kids (or who knows, adults!) are being mean to each other, just bullying or calling others "ugly" or something, I usually tell them to be nice. Before they were most likely to say "make me" or "no." Now they're more likely to stop talking or even disappear. I just know that some of those people they're being mean to are little kids that might take it to heart. I hadn't thought of it until I was at home last weekend for a while, and my little 7 year old brother came in from playing vmk a little upset. He said he was on the monorail with another player and said "good day", and they said "you too." But then as they were getting off, they said "loser." He could not figure out why they would have said that, and I could tell his feelings were hurt. That is such a mild case of what I have seen people do that I am suddenly a lot more against it, and do what I can to stop it when I see it.
