Me SIL gave birth at 6.30am this morning to a healthy baby girl called Phoebe Erin! 12 hour labour but a much better one than for Phoebe's older brother Will who is now 2 and a half. She weighed in at 7lb 6oz and was 30.5cm long. She also has lots of black hair as did Will when he was born but he's now blonde! She's feeding well every -3 hours and the doctors have no concerns for her or her mum.
We went along to see her at the hospital this afternoon and Will seems quite taken by his little baby sister. He got to sit on a chair and hold her and he gave her a hug without it being suggested to him. We stayed for 2 hours but left when we realised there were now 12 people standing around the bed (ward maximum is 4!!!)
Have to admit finding it all a little sad and overwhelming. Firstly this is almost certainly my last time becoming an auntie, DH and I both have 1 sister and they've both vowed they will be having no more children (they now have 2 each.) Secondly I am 6 months pg today so I was stood in the ward I will be on in about 3 months time. Felt very wierd knowing I'm next in line so to speak although slightly reassuring as I've got a better idea what to expect now.
When I first saw Phoebe I was very torn. Half of me was doing the usual "aww she's so tiny, look at that teeny weeny nose/ear/mouth/finger!!!" etc. The other half was going, "oh my God, I have to get something that BIG out of me in 3 months?!?! That's impossible, there's nowhere big enough for it to come out of!"
