Ok here's my problem. I really want to come to DISCON II as you all must know by my whining posts about winning the lottery ect. Well ive just been surfing and found a flight from the UK to Orlando 3rd - 9th Dec for £265 or Priceline will do me one for £232.10 both inc tax ect. What shall i do?????

How much do you think that the DIS CON package will cost both with and without accomodation? Also how much do you think I could get accomodation for on-site? I told myself that if I could make it as i would be travelling on my own I would stay right in the middle of the action but i need some help working out costs ect.

Shall i just go for it and worry later?? If i book the £265 one if i cant make it i will only loose the deposit but if i go by priceline as you know i will loose it all.

Please help!!

Emma

p.s. i havent approached going to dis con with my DH yet!! Im sure that can be sorted though:D

Unfortunately, Emma, I'm not familiar with your money system, so I can't tell whether you have a good deal or not. But I'm assuming it is.

I believe the Yacht Club ran around $195 per night last year, but believe that it will be $20 less this year. That is where I stayed for the first convention. But you can probably get a hotel for less, depending on where you'd want to stay.

Not sure what event-only tickets went for last year, as I bought the package. But I know people like luvdsny (Tia) and NancyIL did. Perhaps they can help you with that.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for your help Steve, the money works out as....

£232.10 = approx $329

£265 = approx $374

Do you know when the prices will be out?

Thanks again

Emma

We're waiting to hear from Linda and Pete as to what the prices are going to be this year. Pete's been really busy with some server issues, but just keep your eyes on this board. I'm sure this will be the first place prices, etc. will be posted.

Both fares sound really good. NancyIL is our resident expert on Priceline, so if you have any questions on that, I'm sure she'll be happy to help.

I'm flying with frequent flier miles this year. Nothing better than free!

Oh Emma, I'm all for naughtiness!!! I say go for it and come!

Wendy :D

I don't know if this will help or not, but keep in mind that we make all convention money due in payments. There will be an initial deposit and then, I think, it was 2 other payments later. So you will have some time to save up some money, if you don't have it all now.
I'm with Wendy, I say go for it! :) :) :) ;)

Hi, I'd like to stay at one of the Boardwalk hotels for DIS-CON but I'm not sure I can afford that. So, I made a reservation at All Stars (DC rate $69). As soon as DIS-CON prices are announced I will decide if I keep my reservation at All Stars or change to one of the Boardwalk hotels....... (winning the lottery might help:D ).
Last year I was at the All Stars too and that was fine. The only 'problem' was getting back to my hotel after the late-night events (Karaoke and Jellyrolls). I wasn't really comfortable alone in the bus or a taxi. So, maybe I should just rent a car for a few days.
I believe the events only was $ 229 last year.

I would book the flight - the rate looks good. Rate for a flight from Amsterdam is 549 Euro (incl. tax).

Thanks Sandra, your post really helped!! Im now thinking of just going for it!! I dont mind travelling places alone at night, well around Disney anyway. So staying at the all stars would be fine for me. I think im off to try and get a quote.

thanks again

Emma

Go for it Emma!

I propose that those of you staying at the All Stars hook up with eachother through a seperate thread and/or PM's and/or e-mails and try to stay at the same resort. That way you will always have company for the late-night rides home. :) Heck! I just might be one the All Star's guests next year. :) They look so darn cute!!! :)

:::sigh::: But The Swan was sooooooooooooo conveniently and centrally located! :::sigh:::

Thanks for the compliment, Steve! I didn't realize that Priceline UK gives you a definite price - like Hotwire. Both fares sound really great from the UK - so I'd go ahead and take one. I'm assuming you have no choice of flight times with the Priceline ticket, so for only $45 more, I'd probably go with the higher priced flight.

The events-only cost $229 per adult for the first convention. I expect it will be higher for Dis-Con II - especially if an extra day is added. If you DO share a hotel room with someone - it will really help to cut your costs.

It looks like you got plenty of good advice. I guess that I would think of how many days before and after DIS CON II you want to stay. There was a lot of unofficial meets, dinners, and other stuff, before and after te official meet.

I look forward to meeting you.

Ray

Nancy, i dont think that it normally does but i put in so many offers which were way too low that it said that they could garantee me a ticket at this price but for a limited time only & only if i filled in a questionaire.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Emma,

I'm kind of in the same position as you. I've already booked up for 21nts in WDW in Sept. before the DISCON II dates were announced. But I really would love to go to DISCON II, so hopefully I will be able to afford it.

The thing is, I'd really rather have definate figures before I book my flight and I just found a really good price through the Student Travel Agency for the DISCON dates.

What to do, what to do???? Not to mention that I will have to miss a week or so of uni. But that can be overcome easily enough:D :D :D .

I think if I do go for it, I will probably go for the All-Stars too. I stayed there a few years ago and really enjoyed. And at the end of the day, it's not as though you will be in your hotel for any length of time:D :D :D .

Ona

Ona, I just had to jump in here and say....I hope you can make it! :) Also, you mentioned not being in your room too much.......you have no idea how TRUE that really is! I could rarely get back to my room during the day, and when I did, I was having to hurry, hurry, hurry. But of course....this is a good thing! ;) Hope it works out for you. :)

Do it, Emma!!!

Was thinking, maybe we could change our ressies to a bigger place and you could "rent" the bed in the other room? We (DH & I) currently have ressies for a studio at VWL for Dec. 1 thru the 8th, but we could change to a 1 bedroom at OKW (They are HUGE!!!) and you could have the sofa bed in the living room. We might "fight" over the shower, but there's the jacuzzi tub, too. Just a thought.......or maybe even get 2 studios.......Hey, just trying to help

Beth

Thank you so much Beth for that great offer, but another DIS person has come to my rescue.

If everything goes to plan, Robin and I are sharing a room at the Dolphin.

Thank you again.

Emma

There are so many wonderful and generous DIS'ers out there. A little testimonial When I had cancelled my family's trip to DIS-Con and then was wavering back and forth about whether or not to come solo and whether or not I could justify the cost, several DIS'ers opened their hearts and their arms to me and offered me a bed in their room....or the couch or whatever they could think of. I even had one call me on my cell phone one day and offer to upsize their room to a suite so that we could all share. :) :) :) It turns out that I was able to find a reasonable rate at The Swan. :) But I just wanted to show how truly wonderful the people on these boards are. :) As time draws closer I'm sure we'll all run into little (and sometimes big ;) ) trials and tribulations, but these are the daily bumps in the road that tend to make us stronger. :)

All right, Emma!!! I'm so glad you've been able to find a roommate and you'll be able to join us at Dis Con! Is this extended family great or what??!!! Looking forward to meeting you and Robin in December.

:bounce: :bounce:
Beth

My goodness... I spend a weekend away from the boards and someone is trying to STEAL my roomie!!!!! ;) Shame on you beth.... Shame on you.

I can't wait to meet all you guys... I'm actually looking more forward to DIS-CON then my up coming March trip!
