I'm a little disappointed. . .

After hearing so much of how helpful Polynesian Island Planning is, I have to say I'm a little disappointed in their response to me today. I mailed our Personal Vacation Itinerary to them about a month ago requesting that they e-mail my PS# and times so that I can put them on my own itinerary - no response. Today, I found it necessary to change some of our PSs. I e-mailed our changes and received a very short note back from Aida saying that she updated my itinerary but that I should "keep in mind" that Chef Mickey's was not available on Nov. 8th (I was put on a wait list) and she kept the original PS (which won't work at all with the new schedule -how can I eat dinner in two places!). How can I "keep this in mind" when I have no confirmation as to what PSs have been made?

I also asked about purchasing a Pal Mickey to have in our room upon arrival and there was no acknowledgement of this in her response. I am starting to feel like I should have just made my own PSs. After all the stories of how concierge can get tables, how come they can't get me into Chef Mickey's?

Should I e-mail her back? Wait for Monday? Or call and actually talk to someone? I have never stayed concierge and I don't want to be a pest but I am a control freak and would like to know that everything is all set before I arrive.

Since your trip is only two months away, I would call and speak to someone directly. It's not being a pest, it's wanting to ensure that your plans are correct once you get there. This is supposed to be the benefit of pre-arrival planning - a worry free trip. I always prefer to speak to someone on the phone rather than correspond by email since you can ask for clarification and/or explanation. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I understand how you feel. We are going Nov 21-28 and splitting the stay between YC concierge and Poly concierge. Yc has been so helpful and have made their part of the trip magical already. The Poly has been a huge disappointment in planning and their responses. This will be our third trip to Poly concierge and have never had this before. It may be they have all new planners because the names are not the same as in the past.

I would call on Monday.

Make sure you are calling the Itinerary Planning Office and not the concierge floor directly. They are 2 totally different things. Your planner may be in an office that isn't even at the Poly. I know the Epcot resorts have their Itinerary office at the Yacht Club.

Lisa...

Email and ask for an itinerary planner to call you... leave your telephone number and a convenient window of time...

(ie) after 2pm.. etc..

When the planner calls - go over everything with them and get the status on Chef Mickey's.

Most of the CM's in concierge are great but occasionally you can get a dud.

They can do many things but not always... (ie) I had a PS for Noel and I for Cinderella's Royal Table and wanted SuAnne and Hayley to come with us..

Concierge was unable to have it switched to a table fo 4 even with a couple of days notice.

Good Luck!

We are also staying at the Poly but in just a few weeks and I have heard mostly good things about the Poly Island Planning, however I got pretty much the same response you got when you e-mailed them. I had to change the number of people on one PS and at the end of my e-mail I asked how I would know when my PS's where and they replied that they had made my change and to let them know if I needed anything else and that was all. Since then I e-mailed them to get a few things in the room and they e-mailed back that it was no problem. So I guess I will just wait to see if it all happens.

We stayed at the Polynesian concierge in July. We had sent in the form and only asked for 4 PS's, one being Chef Mickey's. We got a phone call a week later (on our answering machine) and they told us they were able to get all but Chef Mickey's. But they said they would keep trying. Since we had been there before, we felt if they got it fine, if not - fine. No other phone calls but I did email a few times with questions and had quick responses. When we checked into the Polynesian, we got our itinerary and Chef Mickey's was on it. They were able to get us a 5:15 pm time which was great.
If you feel more comfortable calling, there is a number on the planning form that they sent you or you can email and ask for the phone number.
They were pretty good for us.

My suggestion to everyone here -- call WDW-DINE and give them your name and phone number and have them pull up your PS schedule. I have done this when I have been blown-off by the GF's Grand Plan and Concierge staff. The WDW-DINE folks have NEVER let me down -- they were ALWAYS able to dictate over the telephone EXACTLY what PS reservations they saw for me. By my doing this, I found mistakes that the Grand Plan and Concierge folks had made and was able to get the WDW-DINE Cast Member to help me fix them (for those PS reservations that could easily be fixed without an act of Congress). Just a suggestion from someone who has been in the exact same boat as the rest of you. ;)

Janet2k, I want to thank you for this advice. I have been making myself miserable over the fact that I don't know whether AKL concierge had been "looking out" for my requests or not. I'd emailed them a few requests and gotten a response to only one of the items...but by taking your advice and calling WDW DINE, I found that yes they HAD secured me PS at Cali Grill and it made me feel so GOOD about the whole thing...I've also put in a call and, taking Cass's advice, requested a call back for "Wed. after 11am" if possible...i'll go over my requests for gifts in the room at that point. THANKS AGAIN!
