In the last newsletter of Mousesavers there was a plug for a company called www.Oneshare.com They sell one share of various stocks and if you like they frame it. I had this done and I just love it! It's such a neat gift idea for anyone who loves Disney ( I bought it for myself for my birthday:rolleyes1 )
I thought someone here might like it too.

I love way the shares look, I have 3 certificates with 10 shares each. My dividends are automatically reinvested so I have 6 more shares in the bank. The shareholders reports are always really pretty, too.

Congrats fellow stock holder! And no, there is no benefit to owning Disney except the small amount of dividends you get.

Do the shares still have the pic of Walt and the characters on them?

Thats what I have on my framed share, pretty cool!

Congrats!

Yup! I put mine up at work...sit at a desk for 6 hours....gives me something to dream about:cloud9:

Yeah, my partner bought me one share for our 15th anniversary in 1992. What with stock splits, dividend reinvestments and a few small additional purchases, I wound up with about 120 shares about 2 years ago. Had to sell about half of them, but they are building back up from the dividends again! Have one certificate for the original share, and one for 3 shares from the first split; since then I have let the Company hold my shares but I still have those 2 certificates, and they are quite beautiful.

Also, there is a little benefit you get from owning even one share; you can vote in the shareholder meetings for the directors and resolutions, and you can attend the meeting if you happen to be in the area. We went to the meeting here in Minneapolis a few years ago, the last year before Michael Eisner left the Company, and the year he barely retained his seat on the board in the election. Got to meet Roy E. Disney, and get our picture taken with Minnie Mouse!

*SIGH* ... If only the share price would go up more.

Also ... They used to give complimentary one day theme park tickets to everyone who went to the annual shareholders meetings. I'm not sure if they still do this.

Well, I sure the "value" of my stock is merely the paper it's printed on. It's only one after all....but a park pass would be nice:upsidedow

ooo interesting... how much do these share things cost and how do i get one? lol

All told I paid $120 ish. That included the framing. The share itself is only around $35, with another $35 dollars or so in transfer fees. Check out the web site.:thumbsup2

and once i get the shares do i need to send disney anything to be able to beenfit from all the other stuff ppl mention like invites to meetings? :confused3

Shareholders are sent information at least once a year about the annual meetings. Unfortunately, they haven't held one in Florida for YEARS. Last year's meeting was held in New Orleans.
