I'm 8 point short for next year hols -

- what do I do. As a fairly new DVC'er still trying to juggle points - I've ended up just 8 point short for a holiday next July. MS tells me I can't borrow these from next use year (even though it will only be 12 months and 1 week away) and I can't pay cash for the 8 points but would have to pay for a whole night. Any ideas?

Your options are to try to get a cash reservation for one night ... OR ... try to find a DVC member willing to transfer the 8 points you'll need. If you want to reserve that now, you'll need to find a member with the same home resort. If you can wait until 7 months, any member can transfer the 8 points for the needed reservation ... OR ... you can add-on another 25 points and make the reservation using you own points.

You can only borrow one use year ahead. The OP doesn't give us any specifics, so we can only assume that is what happened.

For example, let's say you want to take a trip in July, 2005. Your use year is June. Your trip will require 310 points. You bought 150 points.

Your 2005 use year runs from 6/1/2005 through 5/31/2006. Your July trip falls within your 2005 use year. To pay for that trip, you use all of your 150 points from your 2005 use year and borrow all 150 from your 2006 use year. But you are still 10 points short. You cannot borrow the 10 points from your 2007 use year because 2007 is more than one use year ahead of 2005. (Remember use year is not the same as calendar year).

Thus, to take the trip, you must choose from the options Doc already listed.

My home resort is OKW and we are planning to go in July 2005 (use year August). We've borrowed all the points from the following year but are still just 8 points short. Just a week later and we would be able to borrow all our points from the following year - I was just a bit surprised that we couldn't borrow just 8 to complete our ideal booking in July and wondered if there was anything we could do
