Pediacare?

What is that about? I was carded at Rite Aid while buying Pedaicare? Are you kidding me?

Well, don't you throw back the Pediacare every time you party? :rotfl: :rotfl:

That is kind of odd---maybe it has something to do with the limits for baby formula buying, etc?

You haven't heard? That's the latest thing teens are using to get high. Cough syrup and canned air were so last year.

Actually though, I think it's because it has the stuff in it to make meth.

Confused, I am. Pediacare is kids cold medicine.

Well, yeah. I mean, are you the target demographic for Pediacare? I think not.

Really? Ok, but I'm 43 with a grey goatee, and mostly grey hair, AND I had my kids with me when I bought it.

And you mean, drunk, right?

Believe me, I know. LOL! It seems like they started limiting a lot of the kids' medicines, formulas & so forth in the past couple years for different reasons. It's probably because Pediacare has Pseudoephedrine in it though.

No it's due to the ingredient in it, it's a decongestant. I know for us we can only get that kind of thing from behind the pharmacy counter (same reason we can only buy Claritin-D in 10-packs). People were buying large quantities of it and using it to create meth. Not sure why they carded you, some places require a log of who buys it.

Pediacare contains pseudoephedrine which is used to make crystal meth. Any cold remedy containing that drug has been pulled off the shelves. There is now a legal limit as to how many can be purchases at one time and buyers must be "carded" before purchase.

I think that's what it is. My dbf got carded for buying Claritin, since you can use it to make meth.

The last time I was at Target buying cold meds there wasn't any on the shelf. I had to take a card back to the pharamacy (sp?) and show ID to buy it. 27 here with 2 kids.

Wow, I usually am on top of these things. Guess I missed this one. Still, it seems kinda nutty in my situation. I bought ONE bottle. and all she did was glance at my ID.

LOL - some of the people on here are confusing PediaSURE with PediaCARE. One is a milkshake supplement type drink like Ensure which I think a lot of us thought that was at first.

Ha, try living in IL. EVERYTHING is behind the counter, you have to show ID and then fill out a form. We can only buy one box at a time and Walgreens has stopped carrying many kinds of medicine altogether. I give DD Dimetap when she is very snarfly, well, thanks to the freakin' meth heads, I can't get it anymore. So my little DD has to suffer because of them....ARGH!!! :furious:

There was just an article in our local paper about it not too long ago. There was this teenage boy who OD'd on Sudafed because he heard it could get him high, so he swallowed a couple of boxes of it after shoplifting them from a store. He lived, but his mother went on this rampage to get all the stores in a 100 mile radius from us to remove the medications from their shelves.

I'm so sorry her boy shoplifted and OD'd on something he shouldn't have been doing, I really am. But she was totally putting the blame where it DIDN'T belong by blaming the stores for carrying them.

I hate having to show ID and sign a log to take a cold medicine that I am legally entitled to take when I'm not feeling well. It's too big brother for me.

Then they are not always consistent about where they keep the stuff being 'watched'. This week I caught a cold of all things, and when I have one, I've found that doubling up on my Claritin D and using Zycam with it helps me get over it much quicker. So I went to get some of both, not knowing the Zycam is also being watched. However, they still have it on the shelves where the customer can get it, but have the Claritin D behind the counter! :confused3 Strange companies.....

It may have Pseudoephedrine in it and since some bad people decided they could make illegal drugs with it--they must now document your purchase.

We had to by pediacare a few weeks ago--and that is why. There are a whole bunch of cold medicines now that are all behind the counter and require ID for purchase.

Sad, ain't it!

Has anyone tried buying this sort of stuff over the internet? I'm just curious how that works.

from drugstore.com

Please note: A new federal law was passed in March that places restrictions on purchases of products containing pseudoephedrine. It is now a violation of that law to purchase more than 7.5 grams of pseudoephedrine in a 30 day period through the mail. drugstore.com, inc. is required by federal regulations to report suspicious purchases to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
