Illuminations

Hi! I just changed our Hacienda de San Angel reservation from 6:00 to 7:00. It is for a party of nine. Do you think it will be a good time to stay and watch Illuminations or should I make it a little later? If later, what time would be good? We plan on having a full dinner but don't mind having drinks to spread out the time. Thanks!

I would make it for 7:30 or 8:00 if Illuminations is at 9. I can only eat and drink so much, and I wouldn't feel right keeping a table just to watch the fireworks. Plus the views are better outside anyway.

Oh, keep in mind they won't allow you to wait for a table that has a fireworks view. Not all tables do, but you have to take the table they have available, no waiting for a different one.

We recently dined at La Hacienda de San Angel on 5/3. I specifically made a 7:30 reservation after reading recommendations to watch Illuminations through dinner. I would recommend 7:30 which will also allow additional time for waiting for a table with a good view. Upon checking in for our reservation I requested a table by the window or an Illuminations viewing table; I specified not necessarily a table by the window to avoid an additional approximated wait time of 30-45 minutes. We only waited 15 minutes past our reservation time and lucked out with a table for six against the window. It was an amazing view!!! and we had just seen Wishes the night before from the Fireworks Dessert Party. I will say we first felt a bit rushed when they started taking our orders but the waiter shortly realized we would be taking our time to stay through Illuminations. The view was great, and the food was good but not amazing. It's completely worth dining there just for the location and viewing of Illuminations alone. Even if you don't sit right up against the window you will have a view in the main room...you just dont want a table in the small back room. Hope this helps!

Hacienda does not have outdoor seating. 2 years ago, they would not let us wait for the window tables BUT, we were seated in the main room with some view and the kids were allowed to go up to the window between tables for a better view.

They own the QS Cantina next door that is first come, first serve and provides a great outdoor view; but, people stake claims on tables and viewing spots hours in advance
