When Epcot has extra magic evening hours....is Illuminations still at 9pm or does it get moved to midnight? Also...how does it compare to wishes? We're going for the first time this October.
Right, 9 p.m. Illuminations compared to Wishes. I like them both. Illuminations is a longer show than Wishes. If I had to chose my favorite-it would be Wishes. I love the music soundtrack, I love all the Disney music-it affects me emotionally more than Illuminations (maybe because I've seen Illuminations more 10-15 x's?) Of course what can be nice about Illuminations is if you plan ahead you can be seated for the show. Last time we sat at the Mexican cantina and had a awesome view and talked to some nice people from Canada. (they let my mom share their table).
I think Wishes gives you more "Bang for your Buck" (Wishes is all fireworks while Illuminations has the globe thingy in the middle of the show), but that being said, I do like them both, and usually see them each several times each trip (even if from outside the parks-Wishes). It seems like we see Illumnations more since it shows every night at 9 and if you're there off season, like we normally are, alot of the parks close early and so we end our day at Epcot.

As the other posters have noted Illuminations is always at 9 p.m. Our family loves Wishes and actually usually takes the opportunity to ride Test Track or the new Soarin' during Illuminations. Could be my kids ages or the fact that DD11 has always been very sensitve to noise and thinks Illuminations is way too loud. She thinks Wishes isn't that bad in terms of noise. Of course, she loves to see that TINK too!
Enjoy your first trip to Disney! There's nothing like it!
