Illuminations without Dessert Party?

So I was reading in another thread (I'm sorry I don't remember which one) that you can have Disney rope off an area to watch Illuminations for free without even having a dessert party. Is this true? We were thinking of doing the dessert party but only for the photos with the fireworks, not really for the desserts, so this would be awesome if it is true.

Also If your reception starts at say 7 and fireworks are at 9 but your party doesn't end till 12, do u just get moved to the fireworks and then go back? We are going to have our reception either in the American Adventure or Living Seas.

I am having a wishes dessert party, but kind of doing the same. Our reception starts at 5pm in the Whitehall Room, and then we are walking to sago cay pointe for the DP, and then back to the whitehall for dancing. I think you can do whatever you want.

I am not 100% sure but I would think you would still have to pay a site fee. You can probably not have a dessert party but I don't know if they would do that for free. Again, I am not 100% sure. I am sure a Sales Manager at Disney would be able to help you with that or maybe another bride her that has asked that same question. I have seen girls NOT do a dessert party though but I think they had other food instead.

I dont believe they will just rope of a section if your party isnt already in the park but if you are having an in park reception (AA parlor or Living seas) they will rope off an area for your guests
