Is there a restaurant with Illuminations viewing where we could just order drinks and watch the show?
We were wondering about Spice Road Table.
Any tips?
Thanks!

Cantina San Angel & Rose & Crown come to mind....& both have great views.. Mexico & UK. Never done SRT, but I'm sure if you enjoy the food the view will be fine as well.

Do you know if you can just order drinks at any of these places, while watching illuminations? We are eating dinner elsewhere that night, but we would still love to sit down at a table to watch the show. We were thinking of getting drinks and/or dessert, but not sure if that is allowed at any of these places. If it is allowed, what time do you think we would need to get there? Reservations needed for drinks and/or desserts?
Thanks!!

You will need reservations for anything, especially during the time for Illuminations. However, please realize that while there are a lot of tables near the windows, you will not be guaranteed one. It's on whatever is available for your timeframe. So, if you eat at Biergarten at 7:00, get out at 8:00 and then go to Rose & Crown for 8:30, you will get a table that is available at 8:30. Not one where you can see Illuminations with no problems.

Thanks! Can we get a table at Rose & Crown (or SRT, etc..) around 8ish, for drinks?

You can but it's pretty good chance you won't be able to..Everyone has that same idea as you, so most people just stretch there dinner out a lil to coincide with Illuminations... There is a casual area off to the side, but people just sit for a while there and no one is usually rushed out.

^^^ This exactly.

I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Many people book an ADR, wait for a window table, & then enjoy a leisurely dinner.

Your best bet would be either to do just that or get a FP for Illuminations.

Rose and Crown's last ADR is at 8:00. If you have a 7:30 or later ADR, and order just drinks and dessert, by the time you pay the check, there will be no one left waiting for a table, so it shouldn't be a problem hanging out there until Illuminations. If you get an indoor table, or a patio table with a bad view, Rose and Crown has a reserved standing viewing area which has a fantastic view.

I know that it sounds like a good plan, but unless all the planets, the Sun and the moon all align, you will likely be setting yourself up for a letdown. I would enjoy my dinner, walk around the WS until I found a beverage I wanted, and then go find my spot and enjoy the show. I mean, what will you do if you show up for your ADR and are told there are no windowside tables? YOur CC will be charged the no show fee if you leave, and if you stay, you are likely to miss the show.

Would not miss the show at rose and crown. you can leave your table for the reserved viewing area for R&C guests, then come back to your table for additional drink/finish dessert (or more dessert) and wait for the park to empty out.

That is good to know. Thank you!

I was at Epcot the other night .... I was getting a beer at Rose and Crown just before Illuminations and heard some commotion about this "private" viewing area. Apparently it was "full" that night with some group and wasn't available. (The man screaming at the manager was more fun than Illuminations however :) He seemed to think he had been guaranteed an unrestricted view of Illuminations not one where he had to look over the people at the table in front of him... he was quite an act!)

What a jerk! Talk about entitlement.

Our party of 5 has an 8pm reservation at Spice Road Table on a day with 9pm fireworks. Assuming we don't get a table with a view, is there somewhere the kids could stand and watch Illuminations without leaving the restaurant?

Just remember the Rose and Crown "viewing" area can be booked for private parties so do not rely on that. It is one of the many places that can have dessert parties, wedding parties, company gatherings, etc. So don't be like the guy in the above story if you are told it isn't available that night it isn't. The restaurant should know far before 9pm though so you can always grab a beer from the to go cart and find viewing anywhere back on that side of the lagoon.
