Illuminations or Wishes Cruise?

We have done the Wishes cruise a few years ago, leaving from the Poly and really enjoyed it. We ate at Ohanas first, then got on the boat and saw (and heard) Wishes. Is Illuminations even better for the cruise? We'll have young kids with us (ages 4, 6, 7). I haven't seen Illuminations in a while -- how does it compare to Wishes? Can anyone compare the 2 cruise experiences for me? THanks.

I have been on both the wishes and illuminations cruise. If I had to choose between the two I would definitely choose illuminations. The illuminations cruise is inside the park and you are front row for the show. With wishes I think it is better in the park.

Although I've never done a Wishes cruise, I have done 3 Illum cruises over the years and loved every single one. During the show, the boats are all parked under the bridge between England and France. Since you're right on the water, you get to see everything up close with no obstructions. Also, we never had any problems with smoke blowing in our faces (some people have reported that as a problem in the past) but that varies daily depending on the wind direction.
