Is illuminations a nightly thing or do they only do it on certain nights? We have been to WDW 5 or 6 times in the last 11 years and this is the first time Ive heard of illuminations. Ive learned so much from these boards. Thanks everyone.

IllumiNations is a nightly fireworks/music/laser light show that happens along the waterside in World Showcase. It can be hard to find a perfect viewing spot unlessw you stay put for 1/2 hour or so before it. I usually make a 8:00 p-seating for Rose and Crown, and when I get to the podium I request the patio seating (so far have gotten it every time) then sit back and watch the show...which is worth the trip almost by itself. Illum. changes every few years but always has a very international we-are-all-in-this-world-together theme. Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.

We end almost every night at Illuminations and have seen it over twenty times from various places. It never gets old. Just get a spot without trees.

But if you can pull it off (not easy any time of year), get a porch seat at R&C (around 7:3- to 8 time frame). Fantastic viewpoint that I've not beat yet.

R&C patio is a great spot for viewing Illuminations, but they CANNOT guarantee a patio table (and some patio tables don't have a good view of it). I only say this because its a hit or miss if you can get the table outside and we see tons of people pitching fits for it every time we go. Its ALWAYS someones birthday, honeymoon, anniversary or dying wish to sit there. If you get a chance ask any of the CM's there the stories people have used to get the tables - some are really funny and some are just shameful!

But if you get it its a nice spot.

Illuminations is my favorite!
make sure to see it this time!

Try for a table at Rose and crown if you'd like, but if you miss illuminations, go see it a different night! It is awesome! :)

We already have ps for Rose and Crown at 7:30. I plan on using my charm and good looks, or maybe not, to get outside seating. If we dont see it from there we can always see it from CBR where we are staying or stop by some night and just watch from outside. Im not going to make a big deal about an outside table. By the way, how is the food at Rose and Crown?

You really can't see Illum. from CBR...a bit of fireworks, but Illuminations is so much more than fireworks. Alot of the "action" takes place on the 7seas lagoon, which is why waterfront seating at R&C is so big. I've gotten outside seating about 8 out of 8 times I've requested it...without begging. Maybe I was just lucky. But, with 7:30 reservations, Illum. will be starting just about coffee and desert time. You can just scoot out the back door to the porch, and sit on the steps or find a spot to stand. During Illum. lots of the waitstaff "stops". One of the highlights of Illum. is that each WS country is lit up one at a time. The UK waitstaff sometimes cheers their homeland at their turn. The food in my opinion is great, and among the more reasonably priced of WS restaurants. The prime rid is good, as are fish and chips, my DH likes the salmon, but my favorite is the "pie sampler"Yum! Salad is great, and english trifle is a great desert. Great beers on tap. If you like the smell of a beer hall (am I wierd?) the bar area is not to be missed. On certain nights there is fun entertainment in there, too. This is a pretty good place in WS for picky kids, too, since it's familiar foods.:)
