Illuminations Cruise ???

A couple of questions regarding Illuminations cruises.

Where does the boat anchor during the Illuminations?

Is the view that much better than finding a good spot around the lagoon, or is it just a matter of being unabstructed and having some elbow room?

Curious to hear reviews from past cruisers.

The cruise is something we cannot do without on our trips........it is just so much easier, unobstructed, no pushing for a spot, etc.....

Although, we normally go to WDW in January and finding a spot around the lake is usually fairly easy...........but on a March trip that we took a few years back.......there were no spots to be found...........people were 6-8 rows deep along the fence around the lake...........

The cruise is just a little perk.......unobstructed view....nice little boat ride....and you can usually get some good WDW info out of the boat captain........WE love it though..........

They park the boat right under the bridge between France and England...........

You do park under the bridge between the UK and France. Great joke there that our driver told us, but I don't want to spoil it as they usually use the same material over and over.

Anyway - I have never seen IllumiNations from the park. I've done the cruise twice and have another booked for July.

It is a great view - however:

a.) the guest sitting in the back should walk up front once you're docked so they can get a good view, too. The people in the back tend to have less of an experience as those in the front.

b.) you don't really get to see the globe that well, but I don't know if you really get to see it well from the park or not.

It is a great way to socialize and if you share it, a great way to meet other DISers.
