Illuminations cruise

I was wondering if anyone knew if we would have enough time after Illuminations to get off the boat(at the Boardwalk)then go back through Epcot to catch a Disney bus to OKW? If not any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx.

Yes, absolutely! The buses run for at least an hour after Illuminations - you won't get stranded.

Consider asking the captain to drop you off at the International Gateway dock - that will be a shorter walk. When we did the Illuminations Cruise, our captain did that for the family we were sharing the cruise with. I got the impression that they really weren't supposed to do that, though, so you may get a polite refusal to your request (but I'm pretty sure it will be all right).

If you are in a hurry, it's easy to get a cab from the Boardwalk. You could be back at OKW in 10 -15 minutes for about $15, including a tip for the driver.

Another option is to take the DD bus from the Boardwalk and transfer to the OKW bus there. This would be fun if you wanted to spend a little time at DD before you return to your resort.

Thank you for the info. CarolMN. I wondered if the captain may do this and I am glad to hear the buses run that late.

The captains are really cooperative about dropping you off at a convenient spot. We have done the cruise several times with other people (we list our cruises on the DIS list to get a group) who wanted to be dropped off at a different dock, and they have always been happy to accommodate.

Can you get back into the park through the International Gateway, since the park is closed? Or do they also accommodate, if you explain you're just trying to get to the main entrance?

Yes, you canget back in through the IG - should not be a problem. EPCOT doesn't empty out for quite awhile after Illuminations and the IG CMs have been very accomodating for those who need to walk back to the front of the park to catch a bus. I certainly wouldn't loiter (on the Boardwalk for example, LOL), but if you ask to walk through after Illuminations, it will not be a problem.

If MGM is open it might be faster to take a boat/walk to MGM to get a bus. It's a long walk through EPCOT to the main entrance.
