I just started looking for a cruise - and would not like to pay for one myself. There is one availabe during my trip, but even if you find someone to say they will share, am I correct in thinking that there's no gurantee that someone to show up? Or help pay? How does everyone handle this? Just hope that whoever agrees to come along shows up?

I did this a few years ago for my DBF's surprise b-day cruise. There were only 4 of us on it so I posted on the Illum cruise sharing thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=560160
and found 3 other couples who wanted to join us. Thru PM, I told them the cost and received checks in advance from them. This way I knew the cruise would be paid for and they, in turn, knew their cruise was secured. BTW, we had a wonderful time.

If you could get payment in advance from the other parties, that would be best, I am sure they would be less apt to blow off the cruise if they too shared in the financial responsibility.

Also, get a cell phone number for each party, nothing worse than standing at Bayside Marina. looking at your watch as the other boats depart, and not knowing where the rest of your party is!

I did post on the September Ill. thread, but I'm looking for 2 other groups to share the cost of an Ill. Cruise on Wed Sept 6. There is still a boat left, but I'm too broke (credit card is maxed!!Oops) after paying for the vacation If anyone is able to reserve the boat for my broke butt and share the cost, I'd be more than happy to pay our share. Let me know!!

Added: So I don't sound horrible - or not willing to do the booking:

I wanted to make a little side note. We're a young couple splurging for the trip. I'm sorry to say - I do not have the money to front the amt for the full price of the boat. I would if I could but right now I can't. It would be alot easier for us to pay our share then the whole amt right now. I'm sure the same for some others - so if anyone can understand this and wants to go along with us, please let me know. Thanks everyone

So I found out they don't charge the card right away, so I'm willing to hold the boat as long as I receive payment soon. We now have 4 adults and 2 kids. Is anyone else looking?
