Wasn't sure of where to map that or if there was walking paths form the front to the side walk so didn't want to mislead anyone. I stuck to the paths on google maps for sake of clarity.

To cut through the BW pool go through the tunnel/walkway behind the Art Store in the BW courtyard on the right side of the courtyard. After you go the the tunnel/walkway to the pool go left at the pool and walk to the path by the water then turn left and start walking.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the info. All the times we've been to WDW and I doubt we EVER took this path. It'll be nice to experience something new!!
I also just realized they close at 10 but there's PM EMH!!! So hopefully most people won't waste their time going to the 10:30 Fantasmic (and will be going on rides for EMH and they'll also be watching the SW Fireworks [which we might get to see some of]) and we can get good seats! Plus we don't have to hustle to make sure we get there by 10

If anyone had a video of the walk that goes through the Boardwalk resort other than around it, I'd be curious to see it. For some reason I always get turned around walking through the BW

You really don't have to walk. The boat ride is roughly 30 min. We have done both illuminations and fantasmic, and we rode the boat. It's such a nice ride, the lights from the area reflect on the water. They do stop at BW, BC, and Swan & Dolphin. It feels slow, but it really doesn't take that long.
