Illumination Cruise

Hi, We are thinking of trying to book the Illumination cruise for the night we arrive, April 17, but we won't be going to the parks that day. Do we need park admission to do the cruise? Thanks for you help.

No you don't need park admission. You pick up the boat at the Marina in front of the Yacht Club (NOT the same place as where the Epcot-MGM boat stops). They will take you on cruise before Illuminations all around the lake. Then they will tie up under a bridge where you will stay to watch the show. You are never able to actually enter Epcot on foot so park admission is not required. After the fireworks, you will return to the Yacht Club Marina.

We did an Illuminations cruise for the first time just a few weeks ago. We met the driver at the Yacht Club marina and therefore didn't need passes into the park. I just have to say that it was an amazing way to view the show. We were parked under the bridge that joins France and England. It was a perfect location and the wind was blowing all the smoke in the opposite direction. As an FYI, you can arrange to bring your own drinks on board, or you can have something set up for a fee.

Thanks for the info. When my DH and I were at Illuminations in Oct. we saw the Illuminations cruise and my DH wasn't too interested in it. My FIL is going with us in April and mentioned doing it and the kids seemed interested so I decided to look into it. Is it really worth the money and what about the smoke as my DD has asthma? Thanks

For my family, it was the highlight of the trip. My DH could watch Illuminations every night of the week and never get bored with it though. Honestly, the only other spot that has a better view is from a patio table at the Rose & Crown.

The smoke seemed to dissipate pretty quickly, but I don't have any idea of what the chances are that it would be blowing in the direction of the boats. They are sort of in a cove area and I think would be more protected from it. This is something that we would definitely do again.
