We are seasoned AP holders but never done IllumaNations, well tonight is the night. Where do you recommend we view it from? How long before it starts to we need to claim our spot? An hour before, hour and a half?? What else do we need to know? I was thinking watching from Mexico?? TIA

There's a bench right in front of Germany that we like to watch it from. The view from there is totally unobstructed. Other than that spot we like to watch from in between France and the UK, slightly closer to the UK.

Depending on the time of year, we've gone to get spots 1.5 to an hour in advance. I think the show is best watched when you can see the entire lagoon.

Finding a spot 45-60 minutes in advance ought to cut it.

There are so many places to view IllumiNations at Epcot's World Showcase
that are wonderful in their own way that its futile to try to list them... so I will. ;)

• Bridge between UK and France
• Near the twin gift shops at the entrance to WS from FW
• Norway area
• Upper level (outside front terrace) of the Matsu No Ma Lounge in Japan
• Italy, near the Gondolas
• Mexico, at the outdoor Cantina
• Mexico, bridge to the right of oudoor Cantina (as you face the lagoon.)
• UK, the Rose & Crown outdoor dining area (ressies required.)
• UK, just to the left of the Rose & Crown (as you face the lagoon.)
• Many, many more great spots.

Be sure to avoid any tree branches that block your overhead view,
and watch out for any "islands" in the water
that block your view of the "center" of the lagoon.

Best Tip:
Don't stand down-wind of the fireworks.
Their SMOKE will ruin the show.

So, If the wind is blowing into your face as you look towards the Lagoon, you are in the wrong spot.
;)

I've seen it from many angles, but here's some of my favorites:

#3 - The area in front of Italy, out on the lagoon.
#2 - Inside Cantina de San Angel, by the windows. Lights are dimmed in the restaurant and the music plays over the speakers inside.

and...

#1 - Front and center at World Showcase Plaza (14 on the map above). You can feel the heat from the flames being this close.

WOW! It was wonderful! Not that Disney would make it anything but. We watched from Japan on the outside deck. It was a wonderful date night.

Thanks for all the tips!

Good to hear! :goodvibes

Love me some RoE!

As the all knowing Robo noted - the first criteria in selecting a viewing location is determining the direction of the wind. :thumbsup2

Otherwise, the different viewing spots are mostly equal. Because of the layout, there is no way you can see everything from one location. 90% of Illuminations occurs in the center of the World Showcase lagoon so just be sure you have a clear view of that area.

:headache: One of my very favorite, favorite things to see at WDW. I hope you enjoy it!! And the incredible music.

So glad you enjoyed it!!
