Boy am I going to sleep well tonight. I hope all my friends in Oregon and Idaho sleep well too... Some brilliant person decided to take an insane killer that is supposed to be in the mental hospital to the county fair in Spokane and now he ESCAPED! I'm not sure it's in this article, but one I read says he needs his meds injected and now he doesn't have them. Great. I'm going to borrow my friend's dogs and have them sleep over, they're big and have loud barks if this nut job has made it all the way over here...

I saw that on the news last night!! CRAZY! I cant believe they took him to the fair.

You have to be seriously disturbed to think that this guy should be taken on a field trip to the fair... I think we should evaluate the competence of the staff at the mental hospital.

What ding-a-ling (being family friendly here, in reality my words are MUCH, much stronger!) would think that's a bright idea? Methinks the person who took the killer to the fair belongs in a mental instiution just as much as the killer does. What an idiot! :sad2:

I think that the fact that it was such an idiotic idea and the fact that they did not get the fair's permission for the field trip (or even notify them of the field trip) are the reasons they didn't call the sheriff's department right away to let them know he escaped. No murder (insane or otherwise) should be walking the streets with normal people during his/her sentence (as I said in the other thread about this escape.) That mental institution is going to be in huge trouble if he does something wrong while he's out and personally, I think they should be shut down anyway (and the people that they caused to be terrified because of their negligence should be able to sue.)

Why would you give this guy a sanity plea in the first place? It states that he killed the woman, her body was dowsed in gasoline to through the scent off and then he burried her. Sounds to me like he knew how to try to cover up his tracks so why wasn't he in a state pen somewhere? If it would of been me, I would have gotten the death penalty, not the loony bin.

I think what's really freaking me out right now is I'm housesitting for a friend and their house has no locks! :scared1: It's never been an issue before and I've always felt safe here. They do have dogs, but still! If it's a crazed guy, he's probably not going to care about the dogs...

Honugirl, they think he probably hopped a train back to his hometown (Sunnydale?) Is that close to you?

Fortunately, no, Sunnyside isn't super close to me. I guess I can breathe a little easier... I'm still in shock that someone would think someone who had already escaped once and knocked out a sheriff doing that would think that it's a good idea to take him on a field trip. It just blows my mind! And of course the article in our local paper didn't include a picture either, so they just told you some crazy guy is running around the state without his meds, be on the lookout for him...

If we still lived in Pullman (south of Spokane) I'd probably have things locked up tight. Who in their right mind would take him to the fair??? I wonder if the person who let him go was in on the escape. And what brilliant work that they didn't notify the Sherriff's dept for 2 hours.

Yep, and it's not the first time this guy escaped either! The guy running the hospital said he was a "fairly model patient." Huh? :confused3

Dh and I were trying to decide who thought it would be a good idea to take these folks to the fair without so much as a peep of warning to all the other families attending the fair. I am just glad we live on the other side of the mountains.

No locks? I don't know anyone with no locks on their doors. That would freak me out. Put some chairs under the doorknobs, or something. Set up some ****y-traps, like the kid in "Home Alone".

That crazy man should not have been taken to the fair! What were they thinking??!

Stay safe!! I was thinking, she better lock those doors until I read they have no locks. I will say a prayer for you too!! Use your karate moves on him!!:)

We actually lived in a few communities in Wa state where locks were more of a decoration than something you used. And this was just a few years ago.

holy carp! i'm praying for your safety and that this maniac doesn't hurt anyone before he's recaptured! someone REALLY dropped the ball on this one, and i hope they pay for it.

The think I dont get is why is this not the lead story on the news? This guy sounds like he is crazy and on the loose and I read about it on a national news website not any local coverage????

I don't watch tv news, but it is on the front page of all of our local news websites, KXLY, KREM and KHQ.

I live just over the border in Idaho (travel to and from Spokane is pretty much a daily event) and I'm baffled at why there was a field trip to begin with. Who there really thought it was a great idea?:confused3

Anyway, I'm not overly worried about it, though. My doors/windows are always locked anyway and I imagine there are just as dangerous people that I encounter everyday in public places, but I wouldn't know it.
