I ordered the gnocchi with bolognese sauce. It's not on your list. It was good. Big big portion though, I hear you can ask for a half but I didn't think to. Took half of it back to the Beach Club though.

The penne sounds good, and the shrimp.

I had the manicotti last October. It isn't real manicotti, which is a filled crepe. It was really cannelloni, a filled pasta tube. Regardless, it was delicious and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. It was a large serving and I was able to wrap up a little more than half of it to take back to the room.

We LOVE Il Mulino, but I can't remember what we ordered last August. I just recall that it was all very good, very kid friendly and very relaxing. We've been to Il Mulino, Via Napoli, Mama Melrose (multiple times) and Tutto (multiple times) and, yes, Tony's (multiple times.) While we love Via, I'd rank Il Mulino as the best Italian restaurant at WDW.

As a side note, our son left his camera there and they not only held onto it in a secure location, but they were very good about questioning him to be sure it belonged to him when he went to retrieve it the next day.

I had risotto last time and it was very good. Il Mulino is where we go for a romantic dinner; we enjoy this restaurant very much.

The first time we went to Il Mulino I got the Gamberi Francese. It was so good. I couldn't finish it all, and I can't tell you how happy my husband was. We went back in August and all 4 of us ordered it, including my daughter. I have to say that is what we would all suggest.

At Il Mulino New York Trattoria can we wear t-shirts and shorts - or should we be dressed business casual ?

:thumbsup2Also, thank you for the 1/2 size orders.
It will be a good idea for most of our family. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the great reviews.

We were able to get a $25 gift certificate from restaurant dot com for Il Mulino New York Trattoria at the Swan.
So cool. I figure our meal will be about $120 - so the $25 off will be great for our budget.:goodvibes

I had the manicotti last October. It isn't real manicotti, which is a filled crepe. It was really cannelloni, a filled pasta tube.

Where did you get the idea that manicotti is a filled crepe?

Yes, manicotti is a filled crepe.

Anyways, I went there last March and got the chicken parm and a peach Bellini. Oh was it delicious!!! It was $100 for two people (just entrees, and drinks) but MAN was it worth it. So good. Sooooooo good.

Anyways, my dbf and I were dressed nice (mostly because we wanted to dress up) I had a knee length dress and heels on and he had on a button down. We had an early reservation, so I'm not sure if the tone changes through the evening, but most of the people we saw were dressed a notch below us in terms of dressiness, but a notch above theme park clothes.

It is absolutely on my list the next time I visit :thumbsup2

Agree with other posters that manicotti is really a crespella (Italian crepe). At Il Mulino Trattoria the manicotti is a fresh pasta dish. Made on site. There are only 3 pastas that the kitchen does fresh and sorry but I can't remember the other two. But the one I was served was a real manicotti. Flat, fresh pasta, rolled and filled with ricotta cheese served in a very fresh tomato sauce.

Tee shirts and shorts are acceptable. You will see resort casual and business casual because of the all the conventions held at the Swan & Dolphin.

Where did you get the idea that manicotti is a filled crepe?
I have that idea because it is.

I love a good discussion.
1) Actually, many Americans consider these the same.
2) Based upon the eatery, they can be, and can be interchangeable.
3) However, there is a small difference.
4) We have an interest in a Fine Dining eatery, and prepare both.
. . . we use almost the same recipe for cannelloni, and manicotti pastas
. . . one has a little thicker dough cross-section than the other
. . . we boil a pre-formed cannelloni pasta tube
. . . we cook manicotti pasta in a crepe pan, forming & tubing as we go
5) Other than that, really NO difference (to us)
. . . the sauce can be the same
. . . the filling can be the same -- many feel manicotti must have ricotta
. . . the purpose can be the same -- party, casual, formal
. . . the use can be the same -- appy, main, dessert
. . . the mealtime can be the same -- bfast, lunch, dinner

Il Mulino is one of our favorite restaurants. DW loves the Gamberi Francese. Pollo Parmigiana for me.
