Had dinner at the bar at Il Mulino on Monday night. Here's a quick review:

DH and I didn't have reservations and decided to sit at the bar so we could watch the football games. They were pretty empty (around 7:30pm) so I have a feeling we could have gotten a table if we asked. Bar area only had 3 other couples. After we sat down, the bartender handed us the regular menus and I asked if we could get the Magical Dining menu at the bar. He asked if we were locals because "nobody but locals know about those things." I guess it isn't something they actively promote.

My husband and I both ordered from the Magical Dining menu, but supplemented with an order of the Parmigiano Reggiano for 2. We have gotten this several times before and this time the portion was significantly smaller. Also, the menu price is listed as $8, but we were charged $10. DH got salad and salmon and I got salad and rigatoni. Salads were good, his salmon was cooked perfectly, but my rigatoni was room temperature at best. I have a feeling it sat around a while. I didn't say anything because it tasted fine, but I really prefer to have my pasta hot.

Desserts were flourless chocolate cake and Italian cheesecake. When I ordered the cheesecake, the bartender asked me if I knew what that meant or if I ever had it before. I guess some guests are surprised by the ricotta cheese. Both were good.

We were able to use our Tables in Wonderland card on top of the Magical Dining price. Total for 2, with extra appetizer and a bottle of wine, was just under $100. This probably sounds silly, but if we hadn't been able to use TiW, I would have pointed out the incorrect pricing on the Parmigiano appetizer and, if we hadn't gotten the Magical Dining menu I probably would have said something about the temperature of my meal. Also, our bartender was a little too free and loose with the "dear" and "honey" stuff. I normally don't mind it, but it just seemed a little too forced or something.

Overall it was a nice time, but not as great as some of our visits to Il Mulino.
