I just got a call from Disney saying that Il Mulino is going to be closed the night before the marathon!!! Help!?!?! Anyone have any other good recommendations? Portabello's or Tutto Gusto?

I would go with Tutto Gusto if they have a reservation available. The food is fantastic. Although I don't drink, the rest of our party remarked about how wonderful the wine selection was.

One of the better pre-race dining experiences we have had was at the Grand Floridian Cafe. While like all on property restaurants they have a pasta special, the chef was able to whip up a meal that was exactly what I wanted. I think most restaurants with a chef on duty are willing to prepare exactly what you want... as long as the kitchen has it in stock

I've heard a lot of good things about Via Napoli for pre-race. Even though I haven't been there pre-race myself, I have been a few times and it's my favorite restaurant on property!

OK, so I talked to IPO and Il Mulino - yes they're closing for some large event. They'll be closed all night. Obviously these things come up, just bad timing.

Il Mulino offered me a reservation at bluezoo - while I really like the restaurant, and love the drinks, pre-marathon food it is not. Post marathon certainly. And all they can guarantee me at this point is some type of pasta special. So thats gonna be a no go.

So I've told the event manager at the restaurant to get me a reservation at either Tutto or Portobello's. I didn't think Via Napoli, but thats another option I should let them know is acceptable. I'd also consider Mama Melrose - I liked it the last time I ate there. Not quite the same caliber as Il Mulino, but very good.

Oh well, time to see how good that famous disney customer service is getting me a reservation for good Italian food 3 weeks out from the marathon. I'll keep everyone informed as to how it goes.

Ok, so not the same caliber of food, but Disney got me a reservation at Mama Melrose (which I certainly enjoyed last time I was there before Wine and Dine) Saturday at 6pm. Still quite grateful.

Good job Disney.

You could try Tutto Gusto. Its mostly set up as a wine bar and they don't actually take reservations like their neighbor Tutto Italia does. But you can get pasta dishes like Tutto Italia serves there too.

Goodness I almost switched my pre-marathon meal from Portabello's to here last week. I'm glad now that I didn't. I'm glad they were able to get you in somewhere acceptable.
