Realistically, why is one animal different from the other? Is it a cultural thing?
I mean, obviously, I wouldn't want to find out I ate kitten or puppy, but, on the other hand, meat is meat.
Donner, party of one ...
Whoafully unacceptable.
The main difference is safety precautions and laws. I used to ride horses and I cannot tell you the amount of products that horse owners buy that say in bold letters: "DO NOT USE ON ANIMALS FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION". These are also on a lot of dog/cat products (medicine, especially and things such as fly sprays). You can really never know, unless an animal is born and raised for food...though even then it seems it can be a bit sketch, but let's not get into that.
Let's hope the FDA is more diligent on this side of the pond. If not, then saddle up!
It is definitely something I think I would like to do in the future.
It is something I kind of struggle with because we are big animal lovers...and I feel that tug inside my head (and my heart) that eating meat doesn't go along with that.
(A play on words on a famous commercial:)
"It's 10 PM, do you know where your horse is?"

add me to the group that never understood why we feel its ok to eat some animals without any thought, and eating others is considered gross.
Me who loves my cats. Sometimes, I look at them and think how can I love them so much, but the presence a mouse or other animal freaks me out & I want it killed immediately.
next thing you know it will be like that movie Soylent Green.

Meanwhile, in Iceland, a food official said his team had found a beef product which contained no meat at all.
I was vegetarian for 15 years before I went vegan. I loved cheese and thought going vegan would be to hard will all the dairy and eggs in everything. Then I did it and realized it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought. Sure I read labels and alot of processed food is out but I consider that a positive thing.
Since going vegan we eat wonderful fresh homemade meals. We really do eat delicious food with a much greater variety than anyone else I know. On our menu tonight: Boston baked beans cooked in my slow cooker, tofu scrambled burritos with sauteed onions, peppers, salsa and fresh cilanto and a fruit salad with pineapple, apple, banana and oranges spashed with lime juice. I was off today and even baked an apple pie. We'll eat that later when we have room in our bellies![]()
