II Exchanges: What's the best and Worst Exchange you've Had

Just wandering if there are some interesting stories in regards to exchanges? If I decide to exchange would like to know what to expect based on "real life" experiences before purchasing.

We have only been on one exchange so far (if you don't count Disneyland Paris) and it was only 250 miles drive from where we live in London so it did not cost us in travel costs and was during our school holidays. We loved it

The villa was right on the ocean

Would definately exchange again probably somewhere in europe first or a skiing vacation before exchange to US.

I doubt all the exchanges for DVC put together would give a good database. One should certainly explore possible exchanges but should do so far more than could be found through those that have exchanged out through DVC. I'd recommend Timeshare Users Group and at least to look at the tripadvisors database. TUG has a lot more info on the resorts including BBS for multiple areas, ratings and reviews.

I enjoyed the Trapp Family Lodge. My brother and sisterinlaw enjoyed Windham Hill in Vermont. I did NOT exchange my DVC for the Trapp Lodge but wanted to mention it was enjoyable. A winter exchange both times, so free cross country skiing is available to II exchangers. DB & DSIL did use my Disney points for Vermont. They loved it but I need to add that their taste in things sometimes seems odd to me.

We loved the Stein Erickson in Utah. We also stayed at the Shelburne Murray Hill in NYC and loved that also.

We exchanged for the Von Trapp Family Lodge over Christmas, which we loved; The Keystone Lodge over Christmas, loved the area and had a great time, but was not real excited with the rooms at the lodge; The Sagamore over Christmas, which we enjoyed but would probably not do it again; We exchanged for Tanque Verde Ranch many times, which is one of my favorite places in the world....a little bit of heaven, but uses lots of points, my husband had an accident there during our last visit, so may not go back for awhile; Our daughter is 17 and the parks just don't appeal to her anymore........We're trying to get Vero Beach this April, but still no luck, Would love to hear about your experiences........
