Hi All,

Our DD will graduate from high school next June. When asked if she'd like a trip as a gift she said yes and that she'd like to go to San Francisco. I have looked at the options through II and am wondering what my chances are of getting a 1BR anywhere in SF for a week on an exchange. Has anyone here successfully exchanged for SF? I"d love to hear your experiences.

Thanks!

I've read it is really hard to get a reservation with the exchange. We are going to try to do Maui for our 10 year anniversary in 2 years...the Westin there looks beautiful. If anyone has had any luck with that, I would love to hear about it too...good luck with SF. Went there for my 30th birthday last year and stayed at the Prescott Hotel. Loved it!

We had little trouble exchanging into Hawaii but had a range of dates and islands we would accept. We ended up not going because of other issues and re-exchanged to Sedona, AZ with even less trouble (got it right away, no waitlist like with HI).

I was just wondering if anybody has had experience exchanging into San Francisco as most of the properties seem smaller than usual. Anyone?

thanks craftymouse...how long ahead did you reserve? We want to go Oct 2009.

Not only are 3 of the 4 small properties, all have other groups pulling taking up the space and/or other groups with priorities.

Club Donatello and Inn at the opera each have at least 2 different timeshares in them and each each component is dually affiliated with II and RCI. The other two are also dually affiliated. In addition 3 of the 4 are shell vacation club options further diluting the pool of available rooms. All of the resorts are rated on TUG as good but not great options. BTW, many of the Shell options were available early on through the BVTC including HI and CA which I believe included the Shell vacation club at the time.

While i have seen all the properties, I have not seen the units on most of them. If you have hotel rewards, that might be a better option or consider priceline.

There is nothing in II at the moment for SF for any time for any property for the next 2 years. I've venture that SF is likely as hard or harder than Maui overall just to get anywhere. One should look at least a year out, preferably two and be prepared to accept something last minute.

We just went to SF in Oct. Did an exchange Feb o6 for Oct. we stayed at San Francisco Suites on Nob Hill 1 bedroon and queen size sofabed my son slept on. small kitchen , housekeeping everyday , great concierge booked all sidetrips with them, very clean, small hotel valet parking, but you really don't need a car This hotel will go out of their way for you so you have great stay. If you have any question let me know

I live just 40 minutes outside of the City. I might be able to help. I have another exchange that might work. PM me!
