Ignore list?

Will someone please explain the 'ignore' list? There is a poster who I just cannot tolerate reading anymore. If I list this person on the ignore list, what exactly happens?

Instead of seeing their posts, you will see their name with a link to click on when they post. If you want to read the post, you just click on the link. If you don't want to see the post, you're happily oblivious.

You also do not recieve emails or pm's from anyone on your ignore list.
