Sorry, I've been neglecting my ignoring duties. I'm obsessed with Farmville on Facebook. :guilty: I cannot ignore that game no matter how hard I try.

Ignoring the fact that my DD was accepted to 3 Catholic high schools, which run approx. $8-$10k a year...

...my DS was accepted last year, to Paramus Catholic, and, at $8K +/year, we just couldn't do it either...:confused3

...my niece goes to IHA, which runs almost $14/year :earseek: - of course, my DSis and her DH make way more than my DH and me....CRAZY!

Ignoring the fact that my DD was accepted to 3 Catholic high schools, which run approx. $8-$10k a year, especially when the local public high school is 1/2a block from our house. Would really appreciate any prayers, good wishes, etc., that she gets accepted to the honors program at the local high school. (Alphabet's right -- I'm a good beggar, so now I'm begging for good wishes). ;)

or you could just ignore this post entirely.

:wizard: I'm sure your DD will get into the honors program. Such a bright girl, how could she not?

DS's Godmother teaches at a private Christian school. She has no kids of her own. She's told us she should be able to get my son's tuition waived because if you teach there your child goes for free. Since he is her Godchild, she thinks he would qualify. Of course, to send the rest of our kids, we would be looking at another mortgage payment each month. We thought about it before homeschooling, but that much money and the 1- 1 1/2 hour drive each way and homeschooling easily won out. That and DS's Godparents had a HORRIBLE car accident on the way there one morning 15 mos ago. DS's Godfather is still in recovery for his brain injury. He'll never be the same person again. Just the drive everyday scares me now.

I'm sorry, but I just could not ignore this request! :yay::banana::hug::cheer2::cheer2:

Thank you!

DD was accepted to Holy Family, St. Dominic's and Marist. Outright tuition is approx. $8k for each, then you have uniforms, fees, fundraising, etc. It's not just the money though. DD has a hard time adjusting in new situations. I just don't feel like keeping her in her close knit cacoon is going to help her grow. I'd hate to send her away to college and find out she's unable to adjust then, and at those prices. ;) Sometimes doing the best thing for your children hurts and brings the most doubt. I can't blame her for wanting to be with her friends, but I have to trust I'm doing the right thing. Only time will tell.

Wow, Kerrie, I'm so sorry to hear about DS's godfather. It is scary to have that commute ahead of your kids each day. How can they best use there time if they're always commuting? A few of DD's friends tried out for a public high school in North Bergen (High Tech) that is extremely hard to get into. I wouldn't even consider it because it's just too far to commute. How would she participate in extra curricular activities? She'd spend approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours each day commuting. And it's an extremely competitive school. Too much pressure for my kid, that's for sure. (no snowflake-ness intended, it's just the truth).

I also think if we go the public school route, we'll be able to bank more money towards college.

More money for college is a definite pro! It seems like tuition goes up every year.

I'm sure you'll make the best decision for your DD. You are a wonderful mother.

PK - just wanted to wish you luck with whatever you & DD decide to do. It sounds as though she shouldn't have much trouble getting into the honors program at the public school since all three schools she applied to accepted her - or at least that's how it usually works out here from what I've seen.

party: Congrats on the acceptance letters - that's an accomplishment to be proud of whether she attends those schools or not. party:

I'm not looking forward to doing ninth grade with a girl again. That's such a hard year even with the best of friends beside them. I'm just grateful that DD9 has quite a few years to go before I have to face more of that ninth grade angst & drama while she establishes herself. I do think though that, wherever they're at, kids tend to move out of their cocoons a little more and expand their horizons in HS. Their peer groups often undergo considerable changes over those four years too. Individual schedules and extra-curricular activities almost make that a given wherever you're at.

PK, I'll pretend to ignore your request for pixie dust but sending it anyway. Private schools are not the "thing" here and thank goodness cuz that's a lot of money for high school.

Overlyspoiled, I'm not ignoring you. Well, actually I am. Drop in and ignore me here anytime you want. Everyone else does.

Thanks DanceMom & Pakey.

I don't envy anyone having their high school years ahead of them. The best of times/the worst of times. How did my mother do it? :rotfl:

Oh sure, now poor wickey and i are not only tagless but not popular enough for tags...

"mad tag pimping" now who'da thunk of that?:lmao:

At least we're in good company with each other. :hippie:

Okay -- I can't ignore that either!! Sending LOTS of good wishes your way!

I know -- boggles the mind, huh? At least I have a few years in between my two being in HS. I'm not looking forward to round 2 with the younger one. As hectic and stressful as the first one was, I'm thinking this one may be worse! :scared1:

And, Overlyspoiled -- glad you're here, but I'm ignoring you too -- :rolleyes1

...yup. My DS applied to Bergen Tech, too.....too much competition, but what an awsome school!

I can't thank you all enough for NOT ignoring me. :goodvibes

And Kimmar, I know you've taken your reputation in hand with that hug. It's much appreciated. Right back at ya, kid. ;)

I'm just wondering how you managed it, what with all that big hair in the way...:confused3

...apparently, you didn't not witness the 50mph winds that we had yesterday...
