If you've had cloth items autographed...

...such as, pillowcases, tshirts, etc. have you had any problems with repeated washings? I plan to take a fabric marker for our cruise, but I'm worried that the characters may use their own Sharpie marker.

Yes, after repeated washings, the ink will wear off. I just go over them every once in a while, before they're not too far gone. Works out fine.

Sharpies work quite nicely. Blue, red and black work the best. I've had trouble with green. Never tried any of the other colors. DD is bugging me lately to re-touch her Michigan shirt. Need to hunt up a red marker. The autograph is almost gone! She had it done so long ago, I could probably write any old thing and she'd say "I remember when..." Hey, it's not a lie if you believe it, right? One thing, the sharpies do dry out rather quickly, so bring a bunch!

If you 'heat set' the shirt before you wash it the ink will last longer. Put it in the dryer or use an iron to set the ink. I read about it on this board.

That is what I did for DD's shirt we had signed. The ink has faded some but so has the design on the shirt.

I know this isn't the right "thread" to post this but wanted to let you know that we will be on the 3/13/04 cruise with you. Saw your name on the cruise list-hopefully ours will be listed soon as well!!We are DVCers since 98 at BWV. Family of 3, with a 12 year old son. We just sailed on the Western on 2/15 with points and rebooked on board!! This will be cruise # 4 on Disney for us.

I apologize for getting "off subject" but just wanted to say hello. Is it too early to start a thread for 3/13/04 or can one never be too early ;-)

There are markers made specifically for writing on fabric that you can purchase at Jo-Ann Fabrics - come in a package of 5 different colors. These markers are better for fabric than Sharpies - just wanted to let you all know (if you didn't already).
