If you're late for an ADR, b/c of transportation issues will they still let you dine?

Here's the story:

I thought that I read on here that the buses start running at 6:30 AM over to the Magic Kingdom for early breakfasts. We wanted to go to Chef Mickey's on our next trip, but the only early time they had was 7:00 AM. We are staying at POP with no car (and NOT willing to spend the extra $$ for a taxi!)

So, if we take the 7:00 ADR and are out at the bus stop at 6:20 or so, even if the bus doesn't get there until 7:10-7:15, will they still let us in? Will it depend on how busy the restaurant is? We're going during a (hopefully) less crowded time in Nov. Don't know if that affects anything?

Any advice? Thanks! :goodvibes

I asked this too a while back. I think they give you about 15 minutes, that's what I'm banking on anyway.

FYI - a taxi should only be ~$10. Personally, I'd pay it to make sure I got to keep my ADR and I'm super cheap.

They give you as long as it will take you. Twice, due to circumstances out of my control, we were over an hour late for our adr during spring break and they sat us. We had to wait for the next available but if you indeed have the adr they do sit you. Of course, I would try to be on time, but if things happen, which they do, don't worry about it. Have fun.

They will seat you. We were 40 minutes late for our ADR at Rose and Crown this last trip and they seated us right away. Even asked if we preferred to eat inside or on the patio.

We are definately going to try to be there, but we just didn't want to get up really early, take the bus over, only to be turned away if we arrived a few minutes later.

As long as the bus is on time, we should be ok. Thanks guys! :goodvibes

I agree you should not have to spend the extra money for a taxi if the buses can't get you there on time. They allow 15 min. late show. They will also sit you with the next avalible table. But with the early time and tme of year I would not worry about it being super busy.

In May on a Friday night, we were about 20 minutes late for our 6:20p.m. ADR at Bomas. (We'd been at the DVC office taking the tour & listening to the salesman).

Well, the CM at Bomas didn't have any problem with us being late & sat us in less than 10 minutes.

I'd speak with someone at the front desk or concierge. I thought I had read here that someone was in the same situation and the hotel provided a little bus to get them where they were going. Doesn't hurt to ask!

We were 45 minutes late for 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We made it at exactly the last minute they will actually seat you for dinner and they said sure. If we were 5 minutes later they would have said no, but just because of time restraint on dinner. Thank God too, we were starving.

I believe all of the restaurants EXCEPT Cinderella's Royal Table will take you late (but you may have to wait a bit for a table.)

When Cindy's went to the 2 table service credit, as well as changing their policy on the pre-pay and pricing, they adopted a policy at that restaurant that late check ins will NOT be seated (due to capacity and popularity.)
I am sure as with everything in life that there might be exceptions to this, but the policy at that restaurant is no late check ins.

I would think that the reason for being late is irrelevant to the staff at restaurants.

I would also guess the policy at the restaurant depends on the restaurant itself and how busy they are. We were late in January for an ADR at California Grill, but I called before our seating time and let them know how late we would be. We had no problem being seated when we arrived. I suspect during the summer they would not have been as accommodating.

I think this is precisely the case. It is really up to the discretion of the CM at the podium. They have a duty to make sure every table to filled at every possible moment...so as long as they have a table, they would seat you even if you were late. At the same time you might be late, someone else may No-Show...so it all tends to work out in the end. It also seems to depend on the restaurant and season.

Calling ahead always seems to do the trick.

Le Cellier is also starting to get very strict about seating those who are later than 15 minutes. Last time we ate there a family showed up 35 minutes past their time and they told them they couldn't seat them and that the reservations are only held for 15 minutes. Le Cellier was booked solid and they were turning people away so I guess this made the difference.

Did you call to see if you can get a later ADR for when you can make it?

We were about 25 minutes late for Le Cellier last month (the fastpass line for Soarin took a little longer than we thought) and they seated us with no questions asked. We did apologise of course! The restaurant was not taking any walk-ins that day. This was at lunchtime.

We did try to get something later, but they told us they only had 7:00, 10:00 and 11:00 left.

We called at 179 days before our POP reservation began too! It was THAT booked up. The CM said there might be a conference or something b/c she thought it was strange too.

We were going to take the 11:00 and go to the park and come back, but we'd rather have breakfast, then go to the park.

I think we will book it and hope for the best! Thanks! :thumbsup2
