If you're in hidden mode...

why?? I've used that feature in the past when I had a stalker who would watch for me to come on and then start PMing me. I'm just curious what other reasons some might choose to be in hidden mode.

I have wondered about that too! A while ago, I went away for a long weekend, and when I came back home and got on the computer, I saw that I was still logged onto the DIS and I was thinking if anyone would pay attention to me (which I doubt! ), they would think I have NO life because my green light was on 24/7 for 3 days!

If you go to User CP and choose Edit Options, the first choice is to check invisible mode. Then your green light will never come on.

I was going to say it might be time for you to go back to hidden mode.

But seriously, I'm in hidden mode. I probably don't need it so much on the DIS, but it's an old habit that dies hard from another site I used to post on. On the debate boards, there were several losers who would pay attention to whether a person was on-line and how long it took them to respond, and make comments like "it took you 23 minutes to come up with that?" or "10 minutes and no response, guess they have no rebuttal". So, most people there stayed invisible, so no one could assume they were sitting there spending hours composing their posts, when they were really doing wash and eating lunch without logging out.

Well now that makes a lot of sense. That would send me into hidden mode fast. I don't need that kind of pressure.

Y'all probably think I'm on here a lot more than I am because I'll often leave the DIS window open for days at a time. (Again, not that it matters). If I'me ever lucky enough to have a stalker, I might have to look into the "hidden" option.

It's almost impossible to do any really good stalking these days. The best you can do is go into their DISboard/forum profile and see when they were last logged in.

I always leave myself logged in everyday. Makes it easier to go right onto the boards without having to log in all the time. To be honest though, I keep forgetting to log myself out each time so it looks as though I'm on 24/7

But I also did not know there was a hidden mode. Learn something new every day.

Where are the green lights? I went to CP & I do not have it checked. How do you see who is here? I still can't figure out how to post a picture.....even using the directions from the Tech Board. While we are at it what are the new buttons on the bottom of the posts? It took me an hours to figure out the signature thing along time ago.
