Kudos to our magnet school principal. She has sent home a form asking for ideas, suggestions, changes, comments. Each child received this.

I was helping at school and brought home a few extras.

What would you write? What would improve your school?

1) More time for the kids to eat lunch! It is just unhealty how little time they have to woof down their food.

2) A SYLLABUS!!! Like you get in college, it would help tremendously.

OH, thats too broad for me...

That could run anywhere...


1) Gifted testing / placement based not solely on test scores alone!

2) Full day kindergarten (beef with me!)

3) Better math curriculum than Mathland (too easy!


This is just for my certain preferences, but really you could go anywhere with this....

I would also agree with the lunches. At our school our children eat 1 snack they have 5 minutes and it is in the classroom. At lunch they have 25 minutes to get there lunch, eat it, dispose of trash and play outside. My DD6 often can't get outside because she is young and slow.

I would also suggest doing away with some of our fund raisers. We do a book fair during school hours and I have seen many a crying child whos parents could not afford a book. I think the PTO either needs to have a fund for these kids, or the book fair should be after school. Actually debated this one with the PTO and had supporters but they said it makes too much money and they won't do away with it, or modify for any reason. I guess its not there kids that are doing the crying. sorry to vent, it just really peeves me.
