...and put the money towards another cruise, and later cancel that cruise, how will they refund you the money?

As you can see, I've been thinking a lot about cruising again. Hope it happens soon. We like Bingo and have never won the jackpot. People often say they'd put their jackpot toward a new cruise, so I was wondering how it works if you do that but later decide to cancel.

Anyone know?

The winnings are given in cash, even the jackpots. The future cruise desk does not accept cash, so you would have to do a deposit or placeholder and then when you got home and put your cash in the bank, pay off the rest of the new cruise then. So, the new cruise, although paid with your bingo winnings, would go back on the card you used, just like any cancellation.

We won one the final prize on one of the bingos (so not the mega jackpot, but still pretty nice) and were given the option to take cash for the whole amount (which made me nervous--don't like carrying that much cash), or apply our winnings to our shipboard account with cash for what was left over (we did that). So I guess you could book the other cruise, charge the deposit to your stateroom, and then use the bingo winnings to pay it off.

Hope you win! It is very fun. We've been luck to win bingo twice in three cruises--my "secret" is what is in the first sentence of this message. Don't go to the final bingo that everyone goes to, go to one of the earlier ones on a port day with a smaller maximum jackpot. The final bingo is packed and we've never had luck there, but when there are only a dozen people or so at the smaller ones, someone has to win, so your odds are better!

Interesting. I know charged a placeholder deposit to a shipboard account but that is only $250 per stateroom.

The future cruise desk can access a credit card tied to your shipboard account, but it is a separate transaction. Otherwise, if you cancel or don't use the placeholder before the cut off date, there would be no way to return the funds to you.

Well, in my many years of playing bingo (anywhere, not just on DCL) I have never won a single game so here's a question I don't need an answer to... :P
Played in Vegas with my wife and two friends once - all 3 of them won. I did not. It's a thing.
