what restaurants would you add to the Animal Kingdom?

Okay - it's Saturday, it's gray and rainy outside (I live near Seattle - go figure!?), I'm being particularly lazy and not getting much done........ :bored: So, what do I do to occupy my time - daydream about Disney! I've often heard the complaint on these boards about the lack of food choices at AK - I agree (I must say, though, my fave CS is Flametree - yum!). I really think Disney is missing the boat here, folks - I think there are awesome possibilities to have some fabulously themed dining experiences!!!

Here are some ideas I've had............

A Taste of Asia food court (similar to Sunshine Seasons in Epcot): a food court featuring several "stops" with a variety of choices from around Asia - the possibilities are endless (Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai - oh, my!)... mmmm! Wouldn't this be cool right in the area of Expedition Everest?!?!

I don't know what I'd call it, but how about a TS restaurant in Dinoland: I envision a fun, cave-like atmosphere w/ dino bones for decorations and fossils embedded in the walls.... you could have a lot of fun with this idea!

A TS restaurant with an India theme: really do it up big and theme it to the max! You could have plenty of exotic choices (curries and such... mmmm!) with plenty of alternatives for those with a less adventurous palate all in a really colorful, different, relaxing atmosphere.

:cool1:

How about you? What additions would you like to see added to the food choices at AK? Any food-fantasies you'd like to see come true?! Let your imaginations go......... :thewave:

Good topic!

I would like to see a seafood restaurant. Mainly because I kinda feel guilty eating chicken, burgers and other animal meats at the Animal Kingdom. Not guilty enough to stop doing it just enough to wish they had a seafood offering.

I would also like to see a restaurant that was a buffet that offered different menus from like India,Africa,Australia and so on.

Indian restaurant, open after the park closes, so it would have to be on the outskirts.

Since it is a park about protecting animals, how about some GOOD vegan/vegetarian restaurants. I'm not a vegetarian myself, but some of the newer "imitation" meat product are quite tasty, and Quorn Brand could sponsor it. I'd eat there.

How about a place who's dinning area is built into a 'hillside' on one of the savanaha's and has large windows looking onto it....and each table has a set of night vision gear for after dark (or they could pump in artifical moon light like at AKL) It's a sitdown, signature place with a demostration kitchen featuring truely organic/veggitarian (sp?) entrees? A sort of Jiko's only themed even more like an african tribal area?

Maybe I am completely crazy, but Fondue. Not just in AK, but in all 4 parks. I would leave decent spacing between tables, and cross my fingers that all of the guests would heed the warnings that the pots really are hot and that small children must not touch.

For CS in AK, or really anywhere, Id like to see a salad place serving strictly vegetarian choices. Yogurt, fruit, soups (like cream of veg or corn chowder),salads, baked veggie/ cheese/ rice casseroles smoothies/milkshakes, and ofcourse desserts!) The salads, fruit or veg, would be made to order. You pick the ingredients, they mix it in a bowl.

Also, in at least 1 restaurant in each park, Id have an adults only dining room, with a seperate supervised area for children under 10. I think that would be priceless to many couples. To know that their kid was being fed and entertained, but they could still have a quiet relaxing meal. Now THAT'S magic :wizard:

You all have such excellent ideas!!! GOOD STUFF! hehehe! Aaaaah - good point about "Animal" Kingdom and then you go and you're eating the animals......... never thought about it that way. I'm not a big meat-eater - not a vegetarian either, but meat is just not a big part of my diet at all - I could totally go for seafood or vegan/vegetarian! What a great concept about the hillside with an animal-viewing area - liking it! Good point, though, about an after-hours restaurant having to be on the outskirts so it's accessible after closing....... must be why they don't have any TS besides RFC (never thought about that either!).

BUT - I still have more ideas.............. :earseek:

Also - how about a mythology/fantasy-based animal restaurant (dragons, unicorns, hippogriffs - you get the idea!) called Mythos - might be a good venue for a non-animal food based restaurant (fanciful fables/"fanciful" fake-meat!).

Then... what about a restaurant around Expedition Everest called View From the Top - I'm picturing panoramic wallscapes (photos or paintings??) featuring views from the top of Mt. Everest with maybe windows here and there or an outdoor eating area that has a view of the Expedition Everest ride. It could be completely decorated with climbing themed "stuff" or have little displays here and there with interesting tidbits of info/history about Mt. Everest itself.

Okay - I am either completely obsessed with food or totally bored out of my mind.... maybe both?!?! :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing your ideas so far....... :cheer2:

Hey, Sweetness..... you gave me another idea, too!! A CS restaurant The Hot Potato - baked potatoes with all kinds of toppings (broccoli, cheese, veggie chili, mushrooms, etc., etc., etc.)...... mmmm! Tasty, simple - and completely meat-free! And the fondue - I totally agree - can't go wrong with fondue!!!!!

OMG! I need to turn this computer off and get a life........ yikes! :badpc:

This is just too much fun........
