If you were in charge of DCL, what would you change?

Just for fun, if you were in charge of DCL, what changes would you make? Big or small, I love hearing new ideas. Maybe we can add some of the ideas we like to the comment section of the survey next time we set sail

I'll post mine below.

I would...

1. Switch up the Dream's itinerary. She's such a big, pretty ship to spend her whole life sailing back and forth to the Bahamas.
2. Keep Cabanas open for dinner as a buffet. Too much table service and not enough variety for quick service if you want to skip the MDRs for dinner.
3. Allow people to book a discounted cruise or placeholder up to 30 days after your cruise is over. I hate wasting time booking on board, especially on shorter cruises.
4. Identify who wants to participate on formal night and put them on the same dining rotation so it maintains the formal atmosphere for those who make the effort.
5. Turn one of the bars into a dual-purpose facility, laser tag during the day, lounge at night.

More offseason European cruises. Cruises that go to South America. Different ports. Better food, Change the shows. Get rid of pirate night or at least change it up.
I hope the new ships have more glass and more ocean views. The adult areas are very dark and gloomy. I would like an adult bar that actually looks out over the ocean.
Stop raising prices and making cuts.

All of the above, and then lower the prices. But then, if I was in charge of DCL I'd want to make hand over fist money and would probably raise prices, as people seem to keep booking with them.

This would definitely be great.

Also, they need to put hooks on the doors of the new bathrooms at CC.

Prices should be posted on all the drink menus, not just the ones in the specialty areas.

Better coffee.

Additional character times during the day for people who opt to stay on board.

-Better prices (or more promotions)

-Being able to pick a rotation (so we can book Palo or Remy without missing out on a MDR or skip a MDR we don't like)

-Alcohol packages like "Cheers" on Carnival (but more affordable, I'd be fine with 5-10 drinks instead of 15).

-Being able to book every activity including Wine Tasting and Mixology classes online

-Adding Palo brunch on 3 nights cruises

-3-4 nights cruises going somewhere else than Nassau (Key West would be nice) or staying at CC overnight.

  • Better, more competitive prices... Or an educator discount for those of us only able to sail at peak times (never going to happen; Disney can live without a poor teacher's dollar)
  • I also like knowing ahead of time what your assigned dining rotation is; I'd also like to be able to request a private table (for the first time, we had a solo traveler assigned to our 4-top and it was hecka-awkward)
  • Either reduce the number of tables in the MDRs and add another dining time, make the MDRs larger, or add more included dining options for dinner. 8:00 is too late for my diabetic father to have his large meal, and 5:45 always seems so early after eating all day. A 7 PM option would be ideal, or even 6:30.
  • Increase capacity in the pool areas to better accommodate the number of passengers the ship can hold
  • Change up the shows more often (I understand why they don't but after 4 years something new should be switched in)
  • Have the option of no couch but a second real bed instead. Those sofa beds are not adult-friendly.
  • Popcorn should be included... I can understand wanting to minimize the mess that would undoubtably result from unlimited popcorn, though.

You can request a private table. We do it every cruise.

3. There's no need to wait to speak with the CM about booking a future cruise. You can just fill out the card that's available, and submit it. They'll send a quote to your state room, you sign it and you're done.

Indoor pool(s).
Better rates that better reflect the "industry standard" DCL likes to harp about.
New menus occasionally. The Remy and MDR menus haven't changed in three years that I can recall.
One evening, even if it's at 3 in the morning, while at sea for astronomy/stargazing where they shut off enough lights up top to actually see something. I know they do this on TransAtlantic cruises, but it's a shame to waste those first two days at sea - and their attendant dark skies - on the Fantasy on an Eastern.

I'm sure there are many, many other thoughts I've had over the years.

I agree the dining times need to shift or offer the my time thing that other lines offer. Currently one is too early and one is too late.

FWIW, you can't offer "My Time" or "Freestyle Dining" very easily with rotating dining rooms, especially considering the timing of lights, shows, etc. in Enchanted Garden and Animator's Palate. That's what Cabanas is for at night. That's the "My Time" option.
