If you were in WDW and celebrating a special event like a birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation, etc., what kind of collectible(s) would you buy to celebrate? What specifically would you buy? Pretend your budget is not a problem within reason (oh, if only!).

Trying to get some ideas for fun things that I might buy when I head to the World next week. I'll be celebrating graduation and my birthday all within days of each other, so I want to buy some things I don't normally buy. Already looking into animation cells and such, and I've been a WDCC collector for about 3 years.

I'll be at the Wilderness Lodge next week too! Arrving 14th to 20th.

I'm also a WDCC collector and collect Salvati 2D giclees. As a special treat, I think I'd select a piece I've had on a personal wish list. However, when you get down to WDW, you just never know what you'll find in the Art of Disney at Downtown Disney, in Epcot or at DHS Animation gallery. There often are pieces exclusive to the parks, so you never know what will be there when you arrive. They also often have original 2D art, so if money is no object, that's a great option.

I've had my eye on the Salvati original of Walt Disney co-signed by Roy Disney which has been at Art of Disney in DD. But at a price tag of $10,500, that's way out of my budget.

Hope you have a great vacation!

Every time I go into Art of Disney, I cry as there are too many good things to buy. But if I was going to treat myself, I'd go to the watch shops in either the Studio or MK and have the artist hand draw the watch face on a watch for me. Only problem would be deciding what to put on the face....Maleficent, Chernabog, Mary Poppins penguins, or Figment. Wait, I already have a watch with the penguins, so the choice goes down to three.

It's a much lower ticket item, but for special events or traveling to special places, I always try to pick up a related Christmas ornament. I love being able to look at my tree each year and see the special ornaments that I've collected over the years and remember the good times, memories or occasions that they commemorate.

A nice piece of jewelry from Arribas Bros. or a piece of art is a good call too :) Can't go wrong with a Disney souvie!

Great ideas everyone. Only time I wish I was a millionaire is when I'm in WDW! :rotfl:

The watch is something I asked last night about on the theme park boards, actually! Would love to get one, but at that price, I think I'd rather put that money into some kind of sculpture or artwork. Still will look though.

Babette, maybe I will see you there! :wizard: We'll arrive the 14th, and we leave the 23rd. Cannot wait! :yay: Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Love to hear what more of youwould buy to treat yourself.

LOL, Your original post did say "if money was no object". Yeah, that's why I still don't have one, and why I do have Disney art on my walls!
