Last night was the visitation for DMIL (December99's mom). How shocked and touched we all were when Dopeygirl, BriSully, KimRaye, and Dan Murphy came in to the funeral home in that small, remote Illinois town. What a wonderful surprise that meant so very much to all of us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was great to see all of you!

As a funny aside, at the end of the visitation hours we were all (DW, DSD, me, and our four DIS friends) sitting in the back parlor/lounge of the funeral home together and December99 suggested that we all better go so that the funeral director could close up for the night (this was 15 or 20 minutes after the scheduled end of visitation). DSD then, pipes up, "yeah, this isn't a DIS meet so we can't stay here all night!" LOL.

Once again, these boards and the people who participate in them have been an immense and overwhelming support during a very difficult time. Thanks for being such good friends.

I'm sure December99 will be on in the near future to give a much longer account of the many DIS friends from whom we have heard from outside these boards, including the large number of Chicago area DIS friends who sent their condolences (and generous contributions to the memorial fund) with the DISers who made the trip out last night. I feel so blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.

Wow, I am happy to know that I just have the chance to be on the board with such kind people.:D Sorry about the loss in your family:(

That's wonderful to hear that so many local DISers were able to make the trek to the funeral....It is a great community with a great heart......

Hope to here from Dec99 soon......again my condolances to your family

Mike, pass the tissue with this thread, please!

We WANTED to be there and, we wanted to represent the DIS community and Our Love for ALL of You! This was truly a sad time for Chris and ALL of you. :(

(I think we were about 30 minutes beyond closing! I tried to get Tricia to help me get the 'boys' going but, YOU were no Help! LOL More talk, more chat, more time! Britt was a 'Light' herself last night, wasn't she?!) ;)

I really can't believe how this past night, what we did, caused such emotion but, I'm glad we were there for you!! I'm proud to know you ALL and, call you MY friends!

Prayers for this morning already said. It's gonna be tough, I'm sure. :(

Love,
Kim

Oh how wonderful that some of our DIS family could be there and represent the rest of us that could not.

Please send Chris my love and big {{HUGS}}.

Send the tissues this way when you're done. That's just wonderful, though not surprising, I guess. :) My continued prayers are with your family, Doctor P.

It is very touching to be part of such a great community.

My continued thoughts are with your family today!

Hi, Mike. Hope you were able to rest a bit last night.

It was right for us to be there last night, Mike, for Chris, you and Brit. Sad it was, and the smiles we seemed to bring you guys made it clear it was right for us to there.

As I mentioned to you earlier, Marie and I often comment, how at funerals of close family, smiles and laughter are often great healers of the pain we are in the midst of. And it was wonderful to see the smiles, and laughter, on the faces of the three of you, along with the four of us. It was good to meet Chris' brother and your mom and dad, and enjoyed the conversation with them.

It was so in tune with us in the past, the DIS group, closing the place up, about an hour after closing, and after all family and other friends had left for the evening. Here it was, the seven of us, walking out into the still, rural Illinois night, crickets only, breaking the quiet solitude. A hug, a kiss, a wave.

On the drive back home, Kim, Trish, Brian and I commented how great it was to have been brought together, the four of us, and the seven of us, through the DIS, and our common love. The world is small, but love filled.

Know well Marie's and my best are with Chris, you and Brit today, and the days to come. {{Hugs}} again, my friend. :sunny:
