If you skip Ohana, are you really missing out?

Love Ohana and have been there a few times but would not loose any sleep over no going. There are lots of great places.

Plenty of great places to eat at WDW... so if you miss Ohana, you'll be fine. I think it appeals to many because of the idea of unlimited grilled meats/shrimp. We enjoyed it the first time we went, the second time, not so much. If you look at the thread on Worst Dining Experiences, you'll see Ohana showing up regularly. Major complaints include: There's usually a wait of about an hour to be seated (yes even with an ADR); service is uneven so either courses arrive one on top of the other, or you are sitting around waiting forever; waitstaff are inattentive; meats are dry/overcooked; it's crazy-noisy.

We like Boma FAR better than Ohana!

Breakfast isn't anything that special, unless you want to see Stitch, have his face on a waffle, and have the infamous POG juice (also served at Kona, Boma, etc). Its your standard Disney family style breakfast menu.

I have read many mixed reviews, but have had only positive experiences at 'Ohana for dinner. I dined there 3x this past year and the CMs have always been super pleasant, I haven't waited more than 5-10 minutes, and when dining before Wishes I got a seat right in front of the castle. Dumb luck, but it was my last time seeing Wishes before it ended and it made that night feel extra special. I will return sometime in 2018.

If you don't think your kids will eat the food, I would skip it.
I wouldn't. They will bring your kids other food (hamburger, nuggets, etc). My kids used to do that. They both decided to try the regular menu a couple of years ago and loved it!!

My family have some who love it there, and others who don't. If the food is not going to be enjoyed by multiple members of your party, then maybe you are better off looking elsewhere.

I keep reading people raving about dining at Ohana. I originally had it on my list of ADRs, but after looking at the dinner menu, I realize my two teenage sons wouldn't really eat much that is listed. They aren't breakfast eaters, so that is out too. Are we really missing something if we don't go?

What a loaded question!!! You will get 50% answering 'no', the other 50% (including us) 'yes'!!

We love it, and haven't missed it for years - last ate there a few weeks ago.

I'm trying to stay by Magic Kingdom, I was also considering The Wave, I don't see much about it but when I do, it's been good.

I know these things are all subjective, but the Wave has become our fave !! We love it !!!

You're right - very subjective!! Dh & I were just there - our steaks were really bland - guess it's not for us as we like our steaks seasoned before grilling.

But, we 'love' the breakfast buffet!

Ate there once--after the hula hoop contest, the coconut roll , the children's march around the restaurant, and the screaming M.C.--we'd had quite enough! Never would consider a return visit...

If the menu does not appeal to your party, then skip it for sure. We have enjoyed it, but I really don't count any restaurant in WDW as a must-do. There are plenty of other choices.

I don't think so.
We went for the first time in April 2017. It was me (woman in my early 40s) and my two sons who were 10 and 17 at the time. There was a woman walking around with a ukulele, singing--I found it very annoying. The coconut races--well, my kids are really too old for that, but my 10 year old participated anyway. He was by far the biggest kid particpating. We were seated at the other end of the restaurant--but if we had been seated close to the races, I would have been annoyed (maybe I am just easily annoyed ;) )

The food tasted good--but it seemed pushed too fast. I felt like we barely got our appetizer platter and our waitress was coming around with the skewers of meat. I asked nicely if we could slow down the pace a bit and she seemed really offended, so I guess you aren't supposed to ask that!

Overall, I'm glad I went once so I could see what it was like, but I probably wouldn't go back.

This is us as well, but add in getting hit multiple times during the children's march. As well as severely overcooked vegetables and meat, and severely overdressed salad, vegetables, wings, and noodles. We also gave the kitchen multiple tries to at least attempt to bring us meat that wasn't terribly overdone, but that was not able to be accomplished.

Positive is the view and all you can eat bread pudding. Negative is the rest of the food. I have had better meat at Counter Service locations than we had at Ohana.

Your missing being rushed at dinner, eating mediocre food and getting hit in the shins with a coconut or broom during the coconut races. At least that was our last experience.

Just like with any restaurant you can have a really good experience or a horrible one. I went May 8th 2017 with my fiancé and it was probably the worst meal I've had at Ohana. The chicken was mushy and was completely plain (I think it's supposed to be sweet and sour or teriyaki?) and we were brought a super small appetizer skillet with just two chicken wings and two pot stickers. Our server came to the table a total of 3 times.. once to put the appetizer skillet down, then to give us the meat, then to deliver the dessert. Not once did she ask if we wanted more of anything.

Fast forward to May 24th 2017 when I went with my parents and it was SO GOOD. Everything was hot, the meat was fresh and tender, but not chewy or mushy. Our server was great.. she brought us two appetizer plates and multiple skewers of meat. Plus we got a No Strings Attached Fastpass for my college graduation :yay:

I almost cancelled the May 24th ressie, but I'm glad I didn't. It really just varies on the service, quality of food that night, etc.

I'm probably in the minority, but I find the live ukulele music and singing to be a little cheesy. Didn't really detract from my experience at all, just my opinion :-)

We did the breakfast last year and loved it! We would do it again. The last time we did dinner was 12 years ago so cannot comment on that. However, we do not feel like we are missing out.
