If you have experience with WILL preparation . . . update

Thank you. Knowing people hold my brother in prayer is very comforting.

Whoa. I did not know that. As I said a few posts back, my husband and I don't currently have a lawyer, First one disbarred, second one died. We have a will, but guess we need to review all of that stuff you don't want to think about. Thank you.

Interesting! And makes sense. Not only are our sons out of "town" (California and Texas) they don't exactly have jobs that would permit extended time off to deal with issues in New York.. Thanks for adding that perspective.
You might see if your work has an arrangement with a group of attorneys. I get a small amount of legal help through my education organization. I actually met with them once for an issue. I thought they were good. We do have a lawyer. A friend of my parents. He did our wills. But he’s not getting any younger, so when he retires I’ll at least have an idea of who I can call.

Good to know, thanks!

Thank you again to all who took the time to answer and especially those who offered kind words and prayers.

My brother died yesterday morning. Ironically he did not live long enough to sign the will the lawyer was drawing up for him, but I"m sure he's in better shape than if he had done nothing or started an online will.

THANK YOU ALL!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your work on the will issue brought your brother some clarity and peace, even if it wasn't completed.

Sorry to hear that. At least there's something, even if not official, to help make sure things are done as he wants.

I’m sorry for the loss of your brother.

Thank you all. I believe it did bring him some peace knowing the very least he could do for his girlfriend was to leave her his "property".

Of course, had he died without a will, as his next of kin I would have inherited everything. I don't think I've ever worked so hard to give away so much money!

I'm so sorry for your loss. i hope you can find some peace in knowing you did everything you could for him.

Thank you. No matter time or distance I think family ties are important and strong.
