If you have an artificial tree...

We had one for about 20 yrs. and it looked good. We replaced it last yr. for a pre-lit tree.

LOVED Woolco...all the ones in Calgary became WalMarts when they first came to Canada 25 or so years ago.

Yeah, all our Woolco's became Walmarts too.

Woolcos in the US closed about 1983 or so. They either were abandoned or other discount chains took over the locations piecemeal.

We currently have four artificial trees. One is about 10 years old, one about 5, and the two others were new last Christmas.

We had our first artificial tree, not pre-lit, for years, maybe 15+. In 2009 I bought a pre-lit. Last year only about the middle three feet would light so I added 6 strings of lights. What a pain! This year I have a new pre-lit in a box which I've had about 5 days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it looks nice. I really wanted one from Balsam Firs or something like that but holy cow they started at $600.

On a different note, did anyone actually get a live tree and have any luck with it? We tried and found that our ornaments or most of them anyway were way too heavy and the branches on the live tree couldn't handle the ornaments.

Ours is going on 12 years old - it's easy to put together but I have to spend lots of time fluffing - usually about an hour to an hour and a half. I spread that over a few evenings.

It's a 9 footer that fits perfect in the living room but I am tired of decorating such a big tree all by myself. I tried to get my husband to help last year and he (purposely I'm sure so I wouldn't ask him to help again) put ornaments right on the very end of a bunch of branches so they fell off if you brushed by the tree.
(He will also buy the wrong thing purposely at the grocery store so he doesn't have to do grocery shopping - he told my son about that trick who ratted him out to me).

My Daughter said she "may" help me decorate the tree this year. I sure hope so - otherwise I'm tempted to just put up a table top one on the portable bar in front of the window and call it done.

Sounds like my DH exactly.

I want to say mine is about 3 years old. I got it on like Dec 26, 2013. It has only been used 2 Christmases.
