If you had to choose between 50's Primetime Cafe and Sci Fi?

Which would you choose? DH, DD, DGS 3 1/2, a newby 27 and me are going to HS before MNSSHP in Oct. Want to make an early dinner before the party. Also can we make it out of either of these in an hr and half tops?

Our family prefers the atmosphere and food at the 50's. I seemed like it took about an hour for dinner. Maybe a little longer. Some of it depends on how fast the kids eat.

I would vote for Sci Fi. We've eat at 50s PTCafe twice before. The first time (in 2005), the food and the service were excellent! The second time (2008) the food was good but the service was OK. We ate at Sci Fi in September and loved it!
You might want to make the reservations for a late lunch instead of dinner. The Halloween party officially begins at 7, but you can enter MK with your ticket as early as 4. You want to be there when it begins. We had loads of fun at it last year.

I would say food wise 50s PTC all the way. lol But for atmosphere it is Sci-Fi. The wait at 50s is long even with a ressie and it doesnt help it is a small space. I ate at the Sci-Fi a few years ago and i remember not being overly impressed with the food where as at 50s the pot roast and tuna steak casserole are to die for. Sci-Fi is also cheaper than 50s if that matters.

P.S. If you choose 50s keeps your elbows off the table :thumbsup2

Put me down as the number one fan of 50's PTC. The pot roast is heaven, and the fried chicken is better than the colonel's (heresy here in KY). And the memory of my buddy singing I'm a Little Teapot, priceless. Can't wait for our ADR on Sept 26.

Hands down the 50s Prime Time cafe!!!! The fried chicken is TDF and the smores are INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We NEVER miss an opportunity to eat there!! :)

Another vote for 50's PTC! It is one of our must do's everytime we go. Not a huge fan of the sci-fi at all. We go once in a great while because the atmosphere is cool but mostly we go for a shake and just sit and relax.

We prefer 50's and have been 3 times. The food is good as well as the atmosphere. My favorite meal is the meatloaf. Some of the best I have ever had. We have been to Sci-Fi once and vowed never to return. The food was horrible. The atmosphere was not much better either.

Time wise we have been in and out of 50's anywhere from an hour to two and a half hours after checking in for our adr time. It just depends on how busy they are. The last time we were there they were not very busy and we were out pretty quick. Our first time there it took forever to be seated and once seated it took forever to get our food.

I would have to flip a coin to choose between these 2!!! The food and atmosphere is very good at both. Sci-Fi is especially good at lunch - super cool to go into a dark "drive-in" during a hot Florida afternoon. Burgers, reubens, ribs, shakes, and desserts are all delicious there! 50's Primetime has a great retro theme and can be a lot of fun if you get the right server. Even if you don't, the homestyle food is very tasty (fried chicken is my favorite) and the decor is fun. Good luck choosing - we usually do both!!!:goodvibes

There both good, but I vote for the 50's! The pot roast is great and the desserts are wonderful. You can't go wrong with either!

My husband and I absolutely loved Sci-Fi. We had a great time and loved the theming. 50's Primetime wasn't as great an experience. We didn't get a server who was particularly in character, or anything, which I would have enjoyed and we thought the food was pretty mediocre at best.

I think the food at both is pretty lackluster; you're paying for the atmosphere though, not the culinary delights :) Stick to the basics and you'll get an acceptable meal to eat.

With regard to atmosphere, we used to love PTC, but during our last few visits there really wasn't any of the antics from the waitstaff and the wait for our table, even with an ADR, was pretty lengthy. Therefore, it was a long wait for very little atmosphere.

Given that, we've been going to Sci-Fi the last few trips. My son likes the food & atmosphere better there (he's 3) and we haven't experienced a lengthy wait for a table.

My vote is for Sci-Fi. I am not a fan of the comfort food restraunts because I tend to like my own or my mom's versions much better. We do love the Sci-Fi because of the atmosphere and the food is actually quite nice. We love the shakes and my kids love the movies that play!

50's hands down.. had a bad meal at Sci Fi and will never go back. Can't go wrong with the pot roast or fried chicken.. they are delicious!!

It must depend on timing. We had mediocre food and so-so service at the 50's Primetime Cafe. The food wasn't really better at the SciFi but we loved the atmosphere. In fact we will be having lunch at the Scifi in August.

I admit that it seems like most people really like the 50's Primetime though.

Our family is not exactly the 'interactive' type, so we haven't even tried 50's PTC. We have been to Sci Fi almost every trip and the food has always been great. But for your 3.5 year old, the movie clips might be a little frightening at Sci Fi.

We have been to 50's twice and both times we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere (had both the fried chicken and pot roast and both are very very good), when we are there in September we decided to try out Sci-Fi (first time for girls and I, second time for DH). We are going for lunch and are kind of excited about it because the girls can't wait to eat in a car :goodvibes

Prime Time Cafe and with PS I see no problem getting in and out in the 1 1/2 hour time frame. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

We ate at Sci-Fi last May when we were there... we were expecting more then what we got... It was OK...

Ate at 50's a few years back, definitely a better choice for our family!
