If you had $500....

I'm back with my silly questions. As I've posted before...my nifty 50 took a nose dive at DHS during our last trip. I was just going to get another one but then the tax return came in I don't want to go crazy so I'd like to stay in the $500ish range.

The options I was looking at were are below but I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8

the Tamron 17-50 2.8 has the higher ratings - www.photozone.de
it's a nice sharp lens but won't work on full frame - the 28-75 will

Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. I like the wider angle it gives compared to the 28-75. But, you might prefer a little more length and not so wide.

I used to have the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, it's a great lens for the price.

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 would be my choice.

Actually, if you could get your hands on the non-stabilized version, which some claim is sharper than the stabilized version, you could almost get a new nifty 50 as well!

The Tamron 17-50 is also on my wishlist. I hope to replace my kit lens with it eventually.
