If you had $320 in your pocket...

If you had $320 which would you choose?

  • One night at a Deluxe Resort

  • Two nights at a Moderate Resort

  • Four nights at a Value Resort

The problem with this is while $320 may only be the cost of your room which the poll is based on, 4 nights in a value would bring you 5 days admissions and 5 days of food so the vacation would actually end up costing you way more cash in the long run that one night in a deluxe.

I guess since I am a Florida resident I go for shorter but more often trips. Depending on the season I would either stay at a moderate or deluxe and I normally stay for 2-3 nights and it has always been under $320 (except in May at AKL) I am considering staying for 1 night in Oct at a value (possibly Pop) but that would be for a quick trip to take my niece to MNSSHP. Anything longer than 1 night I would have to stay at a moderate (preferrably POFQ but am trying CSR this next trip) or the WL or AKL. I would love to stay at Poly (stayed there when I was little but don't remember it much) or CR in the Towers or one of the Epcot resorts (as that is our favorite park) but that is not in the budget right now. Sadly WL & AKL may not be in the budget much longer if the prices keep going up and we don't get AP or FL resident discounts anymore!!

Oh my!! I would definitely do the 4 days at value resort! There is no way I would just do one night and fly back! That's a lot of money wasted! And besides... to stay at a deluxe resort for just one day would just be a tease!

I would stay 4 nights at the ALL Star resorts. I love them.
--they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy :flower: I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait. :hourglass

KCMiller, can I ask what kind of deals you got with Priceline?
I've never tried them.

I usually go to biddingfortravel.com, although I never post there, because they have a very hard working yet REALLY irascible mod, bless her - they have listings of possible Priceline hotels in various areas, and lots of people post winning bids. They also have lots of info on the best way to place a bid - it's really worthwhile to spend some time over there, and they appreciate if you place your Priceline bid through their link (which I always do, but again, after being tartly chided more than once by their mod, I don't post anymore, I just lurk).

We stayed at the 3 star Marriot Orlando World Resort the week between Christmas and New Years in 2003 (actually over New Years Day, checking out on the 3rd), and paid $45 a night for a beautiful room overlooking Epcot and MK. That was including taxes and everything. Fantastic hotel, incredible pool, VERY close to the parks. Priceline works great if you do some due diligence. We have never had a bad experience using it.

Good luck!

If you only have $320 in your pocket, you should be saving it, rather than ending up with $0 in your pocket.

If I had $320 in my pocket.......

I'd probably be wearing someone else's pants :rotfl2:

Sorry - not knowing the details, I'd go for more nights.

kind of kidding but when a dvc person posts why is it almost always a commercial for renting points????? is that allowed since you aren't supposed to sell stuff on here and i thought there was a thread for that.just wondering( maybe since this is about the 3rd one i've seen in the past 1/2 hr)

4 nights in a value. More fun, more magic :)

I'll be the oddball - I'd do 2 nights moderate. But, as said elsewhere on this thread, I'd really save longer to stay at least 4 or 5 nights moderate or deluxe.

I really HATE the value resorts based on my stay at AsSports. Great trip, awful resort. All I wanted to do in my room was sleep & it was too moisy for that. I need my sleep, esp. at WDW where you are going full steam ahead.
